With the Variety Bash and Noosa Hill climb taking care of the rest of this year I am keen to get back to the VV group next year. We spoke about maybe returning to the sunshine coast next Feb - but maybe not Mooloolaba. If anyone is interested I'll make inquiries with Seabreeze Caravan Park at Maroochydore. Just behind the dunes and walking distance to the surf club for a feed it sounds possible. I'll get some details. Unsure what I'll be driving as the yellow Hunter wagon - now Variety Bash car will be up for sale after the bash and I'll be starting work on a Sunbeam Rapier Fastback for the Sunbeam nationals at Gold Coast next June but the teardrop will be ready to go. Rod G. ps. I am off to Leyburn Sprints next weekend so if anyone is heading out there look out for the orange Sunbeam Rapier fastback Car 82. With a certain Richard Johnson aka Dick running an RS2000 Escort in my class I will need to push the old Rootes Group coupe to it's limit.

Hi Rod We will be able to go in February & Sunshine Coast is fine with us.
Can't make Leyburn this year but maybe next year. I believe we can camp in the showgrounds there, maybe we can take our vans? Neil

Neil They set up an area across the creek from the local shop for camping with portable showers etc so I think with a bit of advance notice next year they may designate an area for the vans. This year they have officially said we can camp in the pits so I won't have to set up at two locations. I'll make inquiries with Seabreeze caravan Park at Maroochydore. Rod G.

I spoke to Seabreeze Caravan Park today and they want me to send an email with approx how many vans and people so they can work out a good price. The manager to talk to is away for 2 weeks but that gives us time to canvass numbers. It is a good location backing onto the dunes and surf beach and walk to the surf club and local Cotton Tree shops. Let me know if you are interested and we work out a date but I thought mid February would be good as I beleive my car club has a big day planned for the last Sunday in Feb. Rod G.

I am back on deck after the Variety bash and still keen to get Maroochydore going in february. I have next Tuesday off so will ring the manager direct then and get some info back on the site for confirmation. Does anyone have any date preference ? Probably early february at this stage. Just after school holidays Rod G.

Hi Rod, we could be interested, is it the caravan park that the portable showers are at, or somewhere else?? would we be on powered sites, and what is the length of the stay you are planning around. Rgards Impala

Hi Rod & others.
Firstly Impala, it would be great to see you guys again. We normally stay at good quality parks, as nearly all of us are powered site people. A few of us even enjoy the luxury of an ensuite site when available. We've found that the cost of the park is a minimal proportion of the cost of travelling. If you're travelling north on the coast road, give me a PM & we'll catch up. We've also got space for members to camp with their vans for a short time if needed
Normally we will start around lunch Friday, & leave on Sunday.
Friday night is often a group meal at a nearby Tavern or Pub, & Saturday night Camp Kitchen.
Lets us get back to work on Monday. As not many of our group are retired, it seems to work OK for us.
This looks like a good possibility in February.
I'm not at all interested in temporary showers & toilets. Theres heaps of good parks out there on the Sunshine Coast. Why put up with poor quality for a few bucks less. Hell it costs me around $350 in fuel up & back, so whats another few for some comfort.
The only thing worrying me is that this event hasnt even been discussed by the group like we normally do.
We normally discuss where the next event is going to be when we meet. Our next weekend is at Kanungra on weekend of 7th November. Logically that would be the time to decide on the next event. I'm not putting the idea down, but we all need to have our input as a group.
As 5 of us members took vans to Coledale & Reddos tour, its quite possible some arent even back home yet, but theres sufficient time to organise for February still.
The only hot rod oriented events on in SE Qld that I know about are on the 13 to 15 February. Several of our group go to those events, so that weekend should not be considered.
We should be OK for this one.

G'day Dennis. The way i understand it is that Rod G ( hillmansafari) is just making some inquiry's on behalf of our group, there is nothing set in concrete as we would need to find a date that is suitable to all of the group. The park Rod is investigating is one park north of Mooloolaba where we stayed last feb. Looking forward to seeing both you and sue at Canungra on the 7th. Regards dosse.

All Sea Breeze is a good park with clean ameneties etc. It backs onto the surf beach so out the gate turn right and 20 metres later your toes are feeling the sand. The Surf Club is a few hundred metres up the road so Friday night dinner could be there. Once again those that can get away Friday morning could meet at the Ettamogah Pub for a quick beer and then drive in convoy to the park with probably a drive through the centre of Cotton tree to turn some heads on the way. I should be able to report back on Tuesday night. Rod G.

Had a look at the callendar and beleive that 28 Feb/1st March would be a good date as some have the hot rod event two weeks earlier and I have the Rootes Group Wynnum day on the 22nd. I'll mention this date to the management on Wednesday. Another alternative is the caravan park at Caloundra/Golden Beach. Just heard it was proposed for heritage listing so maybe we could get some extra welcome there ? Rod G.

Hi Rod We camp at Hibiscus Gardens Caravan Park @ Caloundra of a January every year. It has recently been declared by the Premier to remain a Caravan Park to at least 2030 or 2035 so not sure if this is the park you are referring to. The spot is well located with Coles across the road, short walk up the main street to the shops or around to the boardwalk or you can sit in the park looking out over the water toward the bar between Bribie & Caloundra. Amenities are not to flash but are kept clean and there are plenty of shady sites. Can't be too bad, we keep going back there.

I have spoken to the manager of the Maroochydore Park and he is interested in having us there. I just sent an email for him to look at On Sunday so that he can work out a price and availability for us. I have suggested the following dates. 27/28 february or 6/7 March. I'll get back with details asap so that we can confirm numbers etc. Rod G.
