;D Hi everyone. A few years ago I saw an add in the Melbourne Trading post for a "1938 Caravan". I phoned the guy and found out that it had been home built by his dad or granddad (cant remember details) I supplied him with a 16" tyre and tube because he couldnt move the thing. Anyways one Saturday morning I took my Austin A70, the tyre and tube, fixed the flat, tested the van behind the car and never bought it! Idiot I hear you say! The problem was there was no way I was going to get it into my back yard on account of it's height. It was well built, in very original condition, a little bit of rot in one corner, it had been painted in a very thick off white textured paint. It had a main door and a fly wire screen, small windows and the lantern roof, all of the interior fittings and fabric were still intact. Damn wish I had grab it at the time, he wanted $1000 bucks for it. The van was in the Boronia area here in surburban Melbourne. Has any one ever seen it or know of it? It's a long shot, but I will go and see if it's still there. I remember at the time he was reluctant to sell it and he hadnt had any interest apart from me. This was before old vans were interesting. I did take pics of it and do you think I can find them I have a feeling they were lost on a hard drive somewhere a couple of years back. Would love to know what happened to it and see if was saved. Hi Cobber I too love the lantern roof vans. It did look similar in shape, but from memory it had a single window at the rear, and glass in the sides of the lantern roof. I wish I had bought the thing, it was so original and in very good condition. It had been kept undercover all it's life. I'm going to do some reaserch and see if it still exists. i know where it was. Fingers crossed!! Ads

Good luck with the hunt Ads, even if they won't sell it to you see if you can get a photo and as much information about it as you can for us. I would guess that $1000.... or triple that, would be an absolute bargain.... go for it Cobber.
