G'day guys, Not a mention of this anywhere on the forum ........the Rockhampton Swap Meet this Saturday, 2nd August. I am lead to believe by locals that this annual event equals Bendigo & Ballarat. Obviously, all Queensland forum members don't want any southerners (or Westerners) on their patch, but have I got news for them ;D ;D ;D ;D. I only found out about this from one of firefighters Rockhampton friends 2 days ago, so "Lady Madonna" has decided to have an extended stay in Rocky. Might be able to infiltrate the stalls and acquire some goodies for the West ;D ;D ;D Daggsey

Firefighter.....thanks for the heads up......your friends are looking after us wonderfully ;D ;D ;D Sutcac...........unfortunately, I started this thread under general, so I can only talk about pre-1970 vintage caravans and I can only look for anything relating to that category . Maybe if you ask me about tripples and manifolds under "Whatever", I might be able to accommodate you ;D ;D ;D. Can I assure all and sundry, that I WILL NOT be looking for FC parts or accessories. And if you believe that whippy, that is re-MARK-a-bull ;D ;D ;D.......seriously whippy, if I don't find any vintage van parts (pre-1970 of course), I'll ask for this thread to be removed immediately the swap meet is over. "How many vintage caravan parts do you think you will find there??" I cant believe you said that Whippy I have found more bits for old vans at swap meets than any other venue. Galv water tanks, Campbells lamps, toasters, jugs, enamel dinner sets, mugs, bowls , old electric fans , dozens of period car and van magazines, rims , tyres , tow couplings, towbars, load levellers ( sway bars if you like), old mantle radios, period deck chairs, a teasmade, 12 volt chrome rocker switches, backerlite power points and switches.....annexe and poles , old eskys, fold up tables, door knobs and hinges.....the list goes on. All have been reasonably priced and a darn site cheaper than having to compete for them on ebay. Or drive all over the city looking at crap at someones garage sale. The other bonus at a swap meet is ya just pay for it and walk away with the goodies. No rip off postage fees . Happy Hunting Daggsey. I am off to Clarendon for a two day swap meet which includes NSW All Holden Day on sunday. Reddo

Howdy v.ver's, Early start (6am) was worth it.....Rocky Swap, like most big swap meets, attracts many and by 7.30am there were hundreds of people milling like ants...... Quite a bit of memoriabilia for vintage vanners to be had.....old tins, period cutlery, crockery etc. and this, just to keep the thread on line ;D ;D ;D...... A few potential towcars for sale, some restored....... Some needing restoration............. A worthwhile day out, with some goodies heading West ;D ;D Daggsey Hoarder

Ah, so our favourite prodigal son has returned home. This should liven up the forum some as it was relatively quiet whilst he was away. You obviously had a great time Reddo.

G'day Reddo & firefighter, Can't tell you what price the ute, or any of the others.......they have a funny system up here down in Queensland.........no asking price, just "you make me an offer" ;D ;D ;D. The Chev ute was stock standard, but appeared to have been restored. As space & bank account is limited, I kept my mouth shut and hands in my pocket. Did manage to score some extendable revision mirrors (1 Nasco & 1 Wibroc) to suit the FC, ideal for towing a vintage caravan (see, knew I could keep this thread on track ;D ;D ;D) Franklin badge looked similar to the one on my post-1970 Franklin, so not sure if it is truly vintage ;D ;D. Going out tomorrow with a family friend of Carrots who owns and drives cattle trucks. Going to be an interesting experience viewing caravans from a truckies perspective, especially with all the mexican grey nomads up here at the moment ;D ;D Daggsey
