Well not really. But maybe , `round round get around I get around. Definately. I just got my first wee van. A Teardrop. You know the one. It`s been around, a long time. Since 1952. Now do you know which one? Originally out of WA. Now residing under my carport in need of some TLC. I`ve only ever seen pics of this van here. Never visualed it up close and personal. Would i have bought it seeing it? Yes. But i got her sight unseen as such. And i`m so damn happy. Already started cleaning the interior up so as to give me a direction to follow. Sorted out the hatch locks today primarily as a means of security. Gone is the basic flyscreen handle which didn`t really suit it. In place a lockable 'T' handle that joins the swivel cross bars. The keyed lock beneath it which secured it to the door closure jamb at the base has also found it`s way to the bin. New brass ware in place. New wood framework for the hatch door will ensue over the next couple of weeks with added strengthening by means of curved aircraft aluminium angle bolted to the wood frame in keeping with the design. Then the fun begins. Definately a new floor along with new timber rails along with replacing the timber draw bar which could tell a few stories i`m sure of all the places it`s been towed to. There`s some structural strengthening to attend to regarding the walls to the flooring but i don`t foresee too much drama. Like wise i don`t expect this to be a walk in the park either. There is of course much more to do to bring her up to scratch, and all in good time. My thanks to Reddo for piggybacking her down to Sydney for me. I hope he is equally happy with his aquirement also. But i`ll let Reddo tell that part of the story. A new chapter begins.

Here ya go Chris. vintagecaravans.proboards30.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=photo&thread=1456&page=1. I am sure Gordon will do a great job on the 52 mercury. It truely is a part of "Australias Touring Heritage". Gordon wrote: i will let reddo tell that part of the story. I replied to Gordons advert for a small Van or TD to tow behind his VW. I had not long got the Mercury TD transported over from Will in W.A. Plan was to finsih off where Will had got up to with the resto. I had a bit of "I have too much on the Go" moment and decided to let Gordon have the TD if it was what he wanted. The deal was his 1987 Pajero short wheel based 4x4 for the TD. We exchanged photos and history on both items and the deal was struck. Joel ( my son) and i both had a flexi day off work yesterday so we floated the TD to Sydney on a car flaot. loaded the unregistered Pajero up and headed home. I needed a runabout car as the HR ute is on ebay and i have sold the sloper. I am in the middle of "wealth Building" so i can shop for another period towcar in a higher price bracket. I will stick 12 months rego on the 4x4 and it will come in handy for beach fishing trips on those rare occassions when i can get away from working on Old Rosie". Also handy for firewood expiditions up the scrub... a lowered HR yoot aint quite the go when it comes to crawling around the scrub loaded with wood. I am more than happy with the Pajero. Everything opens and shuts as it should and there is absolutely no rust in it. So.. 3 months out from Coledal.. no tow car and a promise that i will have Rosie finished by then... .. better remove my finger and get on with things. Reddo
