Nice one Gordon. Thanks for posting the web address. There's some really interesting things to look at there, including a really extensive list of caravan makes and photos (with a few English vans listed as well).
Love the name of the club magazine - L'Escargot. How appropriate. (Means 'The Snail' for anyone who has forgotten their French lessons at school, or never had them.)
I note that the members of the club are called 'adherents'. That seems appropriate too...

Thanks for that one Gordon, A lot of interesting photos and links to other sites that I will now spend hours going through to try and find a caravan that looks even remotely like Ol' 36..... it has become an obsession of mine . Did you notice Don that there is a French caravan called “Escargot”.... a name given to all caravans I suspect by all truck drivers. Cobber.

F/F.... Steady on with the kisses neighbor, one or two smilies will suffice , We have to give a nod to Gordon44, it was on that French site he gave us that I found the link that gave the link to that site........ then I did a Google (source of all knowledge) on “Chevrolet leader news” and up they came... vol.1-3, vol.2-3, vol.2-4, vol.3-2, and lots more, man you will finish up hating me, or your wife will . I hope you enjoy it all mate, I think you can download most of it too. Cobber.

Hey Don,
I haven't looked at this site yet, but the Snail reference comes from a vintage french van from around the war years that was called Le'Escargot. It features on an English DVD i have,...

Thanks, I never realized how different their designs were in comparison to the English. Went to a bakelite musuem in Somerset, England and they had four complete original 1920's & 30's caravans stored outside. The workmanship was outstanding. Why they stored them outside when it rains most of the time I'll never know. Caravans are new to me I'm an art deco buff, used to live in a 1930's house and restored it all original from door handles, windows to wood floor and light fittings. Hated to leave it, so now I'm learning about vintage caravans.

And here's a couple more.... this first one has just started up and is inviting people to submit photos of their caravans.... it's got 1300 so far they reckon , including one of Ol' 36 that wasn't given to them by me, they've pinched photos from all over the place apparently, you might find a photo of your 'van there... there's one of "Marvin" & another of a "DON" . classic-caravans.co.uk/index.php/Forum/This next one is a video of a nice old bloke who spends his time saving old Winchester caravans.... stick with it, he gets around to the caravans after about 01:15 current.com/items/77319511_caravan_manCobber.

Hi Sharon,
I noted your comment about your love of Art Deco. You will find that some of the vans of the 30's, 40's and even early 50's have touches of art deco about them. Our 1949 van for example has some art deco style light fittings, drawer handles and hinges, etc.
