According to the advertiser the van is a 1967/8 model, which may or not be accurate. The van has obviously been repainted inside and out - although nice to see that the Murrumba Star star logo has been retained/copied back on to the van - however it is interesting to see that a few of the Murrumba Star features were carried on into the vans produced by Glendale. Note for example the lack of a wheel arch, the shape and design of the table in the dinette (single chrome leg), and the sliding doors on the overhead cupboard. None of these features are unique to Murrumba Star of course, but can also be seen on the Glendales. Don Ricardo As usual, great info! So, based on the above..I can honestly say i have not seen any with the "star" logo on the body? Even in the original adverts you posted and with multiple searches on the interweb. Maybe it's as simple as I've completely just over looked it. The table/Dinette in mine is as you have mentioned. Shape and single table leg. As is the overhead cupboards. The more i research, the more and more im thinking mine was a great buy. The body is almost dent free and as straight as a tack and the rot is so far very minimal.

Following some discussion between new member Pete71, Franklin1 and myself on 4 February 2015 here regarding Pete71's Murrumba Star caravan, I am posting some additional information about the Murrumba Star brand. Quote from Keith Winser's 1967 Caravan Manual & Tourist Park Guide, p 238:"Murrumba Star, the new Queensland manufacturers, offer an elegant 24-foot model (mobile home), with such optional extras as a shower unit, hot water system, mains pressure water system, hand wash basis, extra large refrigerators, etc" (emphasis added). From the context this seems to indicate that Murrumba Star only began producing caravans within a short period before the publication of Winser's 1967 Manual - perhaps 1966 or 1967. If correct, this means that all Murrumba Star vans must have been produced between 1966/67 and very early 1970 when the company was taken over by Glendale. Advert from Winser's 1969 Manual for Murrumba Star's new 17 ft Jupiter model:(Source: K Winser, Caravan Manual & Tourist Park Guide, 1969, p252) A couple of things to note from this advertisement: - In 1969, Murrumba Star caravans were available either in 'conventional aluminium or gleaming white acrylic'.
- The flash on the side is different to the more geometric designs on earlier Murrumba Star vans, and incorporates the Murrumba Star star logo at the rear.
The flash seen on the van in the advert is the same as the flash shown on the photo of Unclecharlie's Murrumba Star posted on 17 October 2010, and said to be a 1968 van, but possibly later?: Don Ricardo

Rough but ready to restore .I know we don't discuss prices here but I'm really in a twist whether I should restore her or simply sell to someone who would appreciate her more. Looking for any offers or advice. Cheers in advance. Located Gin Gin Qld 0488079958.

Hello Murrumba Starry people. I have a 15 foot aluminium Murrumba Star that i just put on gumtree if anyone is interested. Hasn't been on the road for 30 years, but was a well loved piece of the family furniture throughout the 1970's. Still has the original decals on the sides and original interior apart from some reupholstering and carpeting. Stored in the mountains in NSW away from the coast, so no rust. Some panels outside have been repaired due to road damage. Unregistered, but easily moved. Doesn't look as cool as the fibreglass ones but still a nice retro van.
Love reading all the stories about old Murrumba Stars, and seeing the photos. Thanks - have learnt a lot about what I thought was just an average old caravan.

Hi All,
New here. I just purchased a Murrumba Star - I believe its the Venus model, so guessing around 1967. She's in pretty good condition and I think mostly original throughout. I'm going to freshen up surfaces, fabrics and colour scheme and probably also re-spray the exterior bright white and new flash but keep the original design. I'll update the kitchen too - not so sure I want to keep the gas appliances so will likely replace with some more modern 240v ones. We will use the van for our own weekends and also thinking about hiring out as a 'vintage van' for on site accommodation.
This will be my second van reno - my first being a big 27 ft Viscount (mid-70's) that I almost completely gutted the inside of (was in a pretty bad state), painted white, new wooden look floor and am now currently using as a bedroom under our big tin shed house we're living in at the moment.
Really excited about the Murrumba Star project and I've found this forum already very helpful.
Anyone reading this I'd also like your opinion please: the Murrumba Star has bunk beds at the back end, and the dinette folds down into a narrow but long double bed. I'm tossing up between two options - keep the bunk bed arrangement for originality (because they do look pretty cool and the windows are arranged to suit), or remove lower bunks and replace with a queen size bed that will fill pretty much the whole back end. If I go for the queen size bed option then I'm also thinking I would keep one of the top bunks as poles come out and they fold down flat against the side walls. That way there's still some flexibility with bedding options if we rented it out to a family / group of friends (would still sleep 5 - with 1 x queen bed and 1 x small single bunk above the queen, and the dinette that folds into the narrow double).
I have searched and searched for photos of these Murrumba Star Venus vans and have not actually seen pictures of any other with the bunk bed arrangement at the back. Love to know if anyone else has come across this and what you're thoughts are on changing or keeping the bed arrangement.
On a side note - I'm in WA, and bought this van from Bunbury. I know they were manufactured in QLD, but I found four pages of The West Australian newspaper that had been used to wrap a piece from the grill, dated December 24 1976 - so I figure this van has been in WA at least that long!
I was going to put some photos up but it's telling me that "this forum has exceeded its attachment limit and my photos cannot be attached" (they were only about 40-50kb). I might put on the Facebook page instead - will provide a link here once I've done that.
**Edit - looks like I am only allowed to attach one photo to the Facebook page anyway, so I won't bother doing that. If anyone knows how I can get some photos of my van to you guys let me know:)

Attachment Deleted Hi all
It seems that I may have scored a Murrumba Star caravan. I have put one picture up on this forum and some nice member identified it for me. I have been doing a lot of searching since then to find out more about these vans. The one I have is in a bad way and was registered as a 1973 Millard. I have in the last few months stripped the inside out and found some confirming evidence to support the identification. There is a date on the wheel arch which was located under the cupboard near the door. It reads '1/7/69' with a signature . J Beveridge. I cannot locate an identification plate or a chassis number of any description and we have stripped this thing down to the point of removing the floor. There has been what looks like a lot of minor repairs, when I think it should have been major repairs, damp, wood rot etc. So the damage-rot-has never really been cured. The last owner painted the outside of the van in a white heat resistant paint, very thick and yucky. I started to strip it back as best we could and found a red star with green arrow design on the side going from the front to the back, would have been over the door but the door is not original. We have now started to replace the floor. From some of the information I have come across this is a 13' Astra. It has a wooden frame which on one side has totally rotted out hence the reason we are totally rebuilding it. It has had the front window shutter removed. Would love to upload some pictures but the photo bucket is just not working-tried another way. I think this one may have been one of the last ones from the old factory before it was taken over. Photo of Vintagerose's Murrumba Star Astra posted here on 23 October 2016:

Hi vintagerose, Yes,your van is a Murrumba Star "Astra"13ft. In 1969 you could have silver or the new white aluminium,so yours is probably one of the last silver ones. Hope this helps Cheers hughdeani

Thanks hughdeani. I think it may have been yourself that identified this van from a photo I sent in. It does have a very flat roof. Someone tried to do some repair work inside and has used 4 by 2 stud wood in it for the frame work on the front wall. He even put ceramic tiles all through the kitchen as a splash back-too much weight. We plan to replace ALL the meranti pine frame work, re-work the windows. Strip all the paint from the outside. We are planning to have the original design put back on the star design and return back to what it used to be, the only change we are planning is a different seating layout and a double bed at the back. We have found a online site that may be able to supply the Murrumba Star name for the front of the van. Would love to find an original door but that may prove hard. Do you know of any sites? Thanks for the confirmation. Vintage Rose

Hi Folks
a couple of members have already kindly helped me identify my just-purchased van as a Murrumba Star (I confess I had no idea). I gather from the cabin being 15'3" it is a Venus - though the painted over "flash" looks a bit different from what I can make out to the other Venuses posted in the thread.
Haven't found any dates inside cabinets or on wheel wells but I'll keep looking. Happy for any guidance on decoding the chassis # or pinning down the date - I understand 67,68, or 69 - or other specs or info you want to shoot my way.
Meantime, I thought members into MSs might like to see some pics of the van.
Happy to have found this forum!
