Hi Malabuh Great pictures........ One might say part of "Australias Touring Amusement Heritage" I reckon just about everyone here on the forum can remember nagging mum and dad and then lining up for a Hot Dog or Fairy Floss from an old van like that one at a regional show or circus. ... Is that an original Don Metho fired Pie warmer i see there... very collectable ;D ;D But wait theres more... an original Hawthorn inflatable jumping castle annexe..... wooooo Hoooooo... how good is that ..... Straight out of bed and into the jumping castle for a few somersaults straight after coffee, bacon and eggs for brekky..... Have a go at the little guys face with the chequered shirt on in the second picture..... priceless. ..... Dad has a different look on his face as he shells out a red back to cover 3 hotdogs and three drinks for the rug rats... .. Love the bright and breezy artwork and the big opening service door at the rear... just the shot in our vans for those hot nights when ya cant get any ventilation happening in the van. Ideal for clearing recycled Hot Dog flatulence Now here's what ya gotta do the next time ya at the markets... saddle on up to the counter and say.... "I'll have 2 frosty cones and a porthole for me old mate Reddo ;D" ( where the hell is Cooee Gully .. Nissan in first picture ) Reddo

I don't know where Cooee Gully (rooftop of Nissan) is but I grew up at Cooee Bay just outside of Yeppoon - 30kms on the coast from Rockhampton. Great speil you got their above and will try and nick the porthole while he's servin hotties next time but will need it for my 56 van. The little ratbag with his tongue hanging out - just what I would've done! and just like the pics of the kids faces on the van under the serving window. I want an annexe like the jumping castle also!!!! - The owners are an old couple I don't know where they got the van or how long they've had it I will talk to them sometime and find out. I asked the wife of the guy serving if I could take a couple of pics and she was happy to let me. Gympie has great markets and the place is generally very old fashioned although sometimes a little conservative. The lobby and interior of the building I work in has the same carpet from 1979 and foyer chairs etc... The garage sales are great and also the farm clearance sales. Heaps of old stuff around and none of the youngins want any of it. They want everything new and you can pick up great stuff CHEAP! It is like its own little world here in Gympie away from everything else even though it is on the main highway north. I bought two acres of beautiful ex dairy land recently with a dam, creek and huge gum trees otherwise cleared with bitumen road and electricty past the block for $130k - it is 650ks from beautiful Rainbow Beach and 55ks from Tin Can Bay an okay little waterside place. The house prices increased in the last few years 300% in Rainbow Beach - stunning beach and views from that little hidden haven. In 2004 you could buy half an acre at Cooloola Cove (Tin Can Bay) for $45k and a house block for similar at Rainbow Beach and 5 acres at Gympie for $65 but it is increasing now. The blocks now at Cooloola Cove are $180k still good at Gympie though for five acres $180-$200k. Their is a house for 184K for sale at the moment in town overlooking the parklands where the markets are and I think its 3 beds in great condition with fresh paint exterior. It is a 1940's home and been restumped.

yup.... been to and through Gympie plenty of times.. 5 visits to Fraser Island via Rainbow beach back in the 80s. Been through there on a trip home form Cairns.. went up the inland way and come back onto the bruce hwy at Mackay. 2 other trips to Caloundra and Hervey bay to pick up Norton Motorbikes.
Always good to come across a garage sale with old goodies.. too many of em around here selling baby clothes and tacky stuff from the 70s and 80s.. A lot of what ya see should be at the tip....

We lived in Amamoor on a small crops farm, which is about 20klms from Gympie from 1951-55, then in Gympie til 1971, built a wooden boat there & launched it at Tin Can Bay in '63, used it on the Noosa River. We had the Don 140 caravan at the time parked at Noosa Woods Caravan Park for 12 months at a time. We lived in the Don at Munna Point at Noosaville for 6 months while dad did some building work at Tewantin & us 3 kids attended school there.
is the house for 184K for sale at the moment in town overlooking the parklands where the markets are above the flood levels we saw when the river rose 70 feet? (several times) We had pictures of people stepping into boats off the roof of the pub in the main street.

Yes that is where the house is - on the Bruce Highway, however, their is a double street so its not right on the highway. Pity your dad didn't buy some land on Hastings Street Noosa
