Well it's done, the Roma is sold. Thanks to eboo again. Kinda glad coz I will have some $$ and some space back. Very impressed with credentials of buyer. The Roma will be picked up this Sunday and go to it's new home in Albury. It's new owner restores old timber speed boats, so he is planning a serious resto, including replacing the old bondwood sides with clear coated Walnut to match his boat. It should look very classy. I will be giving him the www.vintagecaravans.com address and ask him to post some Resto pics! (or at least email me some to post). Very pleased it sounds like going to a great home (and not a b%#*dy teenage retreat! ). Cheers, Mark

Oh bother - not sold. Deal fell through . In between winning and arranging pickup the buyer found out he's lost his life savings in the ACR debarcle. Must've stepped on a Chinaman with luck like that. Tinnie

Sorry to hear that Tinnie, it sounded like he was gonna really look after it for you, and it looks like a great van! Would it cost a lot to get brakes fitted to the van? and to have the rot repaired in it? could be interested!

G'day VintageCaravans, I have relisted the van on eboo cgi.ebay.com.au/CLASSIC-1960s-ROMA-CARAVAN-ORIGINAL-ICE-BOX-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ260124529393QQihZ016QQcategoryZ32633QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. Brakes cost would be $500-1000, depending on the setup (mechanical, hydrolic or electric) and how much you can do yourself - bearing in mind it would probably need a new axle as the one on it is round. As for fixing the rot, well sorry I don't know as I was planning to do that myself. I was gunna cut out the affected area and replace with a piece of marine ply, then seal and repaint the whole outside. I figured on a $200-300 for materials and paint. Then I bought the Franklin and that changed the plans . Cheers, Mark

Hi, just joined the site and have a very similar Roma van myself but slightly smaller. Currently under resto. Would have been interested in yours if I had seen it 3 weeks ago!

Hi Dave, Your Roma looks a bit earlier than my old one, and I see it has the much-sought-after port hole! My old Roma has now gone to it's new home in Bilpin - North west of Sydney. Wher I believe it will get electric brakes some TLC and repairs and be back on the road. Post some pics of your Roma Resto when you get a chance! Cheers, Gristy
