Hi all and sundry,
I've had the caravan bug since my very early teen years (3-6 months at a time in various caravans/camp/random bush lot sites). Always been an admirer of living light, remaining free, and quietly slipping between the cracks for a savings. I've particularly never cared for the gargantuan prices of securing the home owning dream (when you consider the materials and technology, or lack of, involved, plus the ensuing mortgages of indentured servitude).
Now with the sub prime crises creeping at everyone's doorstep, and a belief in fail safe backup's, I've picked up a 3 plus metre 74 Viscount Ambassador with the intention to use it as an office in the backyard, a recreation where desired, and an option for whatever else which might transpire. (Including heated debates with the fiery missus)
I'm in a dilemma though, and I ask for you advice.
Being a bit of a traditionalist, I'd like to keep the unit in close original form, yet I'm a youthful tech savvy sort as well.
All things considering, I could may well alter the van beyond all comprehensible recognition (at least to a classic restored meet up)
How important is the restoration aspect to the meet ups?
I'd love to show my virtual house off, and am worried it might be met with some amount of apprehension or scorn.
Thanks,
Az

Hi Az and welcome ;D Sounds like you have a good outlook on life. This forum is for caravans made prior to 31/12/1970. The founder of this site has classed all vans made prior to that date as eligible for "Vintage caravans" status on this website. However , dont dispair.......there is a section dedicated to "Classic caravans" such as your 1974 model where you can discuss anything to do with vans made post 31/12/1970. Here is the link. vintagecaravans.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=classicvansIf the link does not work just scroll to the bottom of this forums main page and click on "The road to classic caravans" I am sure you will find plenty of forum members there with a common interest in your van, Regards Reddo
