Hiya
Just wanted to say a quick howdy. I know this is a website for pre1970 vans but it's difficult to find a forum to speak to other caravaners and our van is a 1979 CasaVilla....so I hope you will accept us all the same.....
We are very new to caravanning and have had our fair share of drama's so far - as expected but we are learning, but we love it and try and get away as often as possible.
We tend to find we get some odd looks when a young couple (27 and 30yrs) pull up with a van! Still, we love it.
Well, if anyone wants to say howdy - please feel free.
See Ya CasaVilla

hehe well thats the thing, youre one step ahead of me, im vanless atm but its all good, theres 2 lovely ppl (one in here) that have sunliners, they are our fav and the only van hubby and i agree on ;D Im seeing my first sunny on Monday and we cant wait. Hopefully we'll have a vv to bring home, if not, we will see this other sunliner if its still available. Have seen the pics of that one and i love it! When you get confident on here, you'll have to post a pic of your van. Would love to see it.

sunliner? will have to do a little search on that coz i never heard of it - thats not hard though coz we are very new to all this would be more than happy to post a piccy of "Vanessa the Contessa" - she is a 1979 CasaVilla which we bought in a very untidy state, gutted her, rebuilt the kitchen, new carpet, new curtains, new sink etc etc etc the bit we are most proud of is our DVD suround sound - speakers in every corner of the van.....overkill maybe? hahahahaha good luck with van hunting Lulu - wish u all the best just dont forget your extension lead on your first trip like we did......wot a circus that was!!!!

Oh btw dont worry if ppl are slow answering you, it doesnt move as fast in here like other forums. Plus make sure youre always logged in when even just browsing, because i forgot twice to log in & i did a post or two the wrong way. Plus a PM is "personal message", i didnt know about that till i got a PM the other day off a member. I wondered why someone said to PM him. Didnt know what the hell he was talking about so i gave him my email instead And no im not blonde ;D

Well i thought they would be hard to come by, but since being in here ive heard of a couple now that are available, so i guess not (unless ive just been lucky) and id prefer to buy a van from someone in here or one of their contacts because they all have such a passion for restoration and none of them would do a dodgy job just to make a profit. Seeing Paris Hilton have a Streamliner Van in her show is the first time i knew about vintage vans. Never knew there was such a following and its growing too. This is a site ive just found, theres one similar to Ms Hiltons one in here. www.airstream4u.com/its not in english..wish i could understand what they are saying

yeah - wise to stick with fellow caravaners when buying a new van coz they know what they are talking about
i never though the words "paris hilton" and "caravan" would be in the same sentence.....although i would never have put the words "paris hilton" and "jail" in the same sentence either.....but......here we are!!!!! teehe

Hi CasaVilla, yes, this website is for pre 1970 caravans, but we welcome anyone who shares our interest , so welcome to the forum Please feel free to post photos of your CasaVilla caravan if you can master "photobucket" ;D ;D We love restoration pics on this forum, so if you have pics of your van as it was when you started, and pics of it being rebuilt, our members would love to see them. We also encourage young people to the hobby of vintage caravans, coz, when us old buggas (speaking for myself here ;D) are dead & gone, it will be you guys upholding the interest in vintage caravans. For the record, our youngest members, one male, and one female, are both 24yo. Cheers, & enjoy ......... Mark

Mark 24yrs old, thats great news I bet in a few years time there will be more and more and younger and younger people interested in vv's. There is for classic cars so its only a matter of time till the vv catch on.

Hi Casavilla Welcome on board....although I don't post very often, I'm addicted to the site and just luuuuuuuv all the goings on. To be brief I tend to be in the same boat as you. In the process of restoring a VK Valiant (1976 model) and as we speak a new motor is in the process of being installed into the beast...and yes I also find it hard to find a forum for this era. I can find a million enthusiasts for the Val in various forums, but finding a core of enthusiasts who hang out in their "70's model of van and being towed by a muscle car, is like finding a needle in a hay stack I wish to keep with the 70's theme and will be looking for a similiar age van, that I can also restore also. Would love to see you pikkies of your resto on the van. Yep I know I am not in that pre '70's era , maybe we can be a bit naughty and just prentened..anyway 30 years plus....any acceptions to the rule Mark? Cheers

Yeah greenie .....there is .......a couple of our overseas members have "classic" 1970's caravans, and one of our WA members who joins us on vintage van runs has a 1975 pop top caravan, so there are exceptions to the rule. As I said above, the website is about pre 1970 caravans, but we welcome anyone who shares our interest, and if their enthusiam extends to caravans from the 1970's, then so be it Mark

Thanks Mark
As I have mentioned, just starting from scratch really. Get the muscle car up to speed in all areas first, then concentrate on finding a van of that era. Lean towards an 18' with dual wheels.
We need it as a full time live in, as our lot in life is freelance hospitality managers, and we wander all over this great land. However in saying that, we are in Kilcoy SE Queensland till at least March 2008 as our current contract ties us down till then. We are taking that opportunity to get it all right!
As advised an avid watcher of the site...and like all the rest....I'm hooked!!!!!!
Cheers and when the muscle car is totally finished I will post some pikkies.
Greenie

And at least you only forgot to take ext lead one time i forgot to wind a leg up and the second incident happened when i put two new tyres on the van put on both tyres and before i got to tighten the second wheel nuts up got a phone call and packed up while talking on the mobile phone 120kms down the track and a wheel very similar to the ones on my van overtook me!!!!!
