Hi Guys, I'm nearing the time that the go fast "flash" gets painted onto the formerly "skanky" van. Wanted peoples opinions on the two examples below. A straight line or one that kicks up at the back and narrows at the front. Cheers Chris

Straight lines are fine on council, main road gangs and telstra vans... do you work for these companies??
Are you an indivudual
Is your van a rounded shape.
If you answered.. No, yes, yes Then the answer is obvious isnt it.
It appears you are half smart with photoshop. Why not have a play and come up with a design that pleases you.
Just do us all a favour and dont paint between to straight stringlines......Bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbboooorrrrriiiiiiinnnnnggggg
I didnt vote in the poll . i reckon the answer is obvious..

Reddo, You forget that the van WAS a Roads van serial 4B212.. The family were over tonight and it seems that Tony's first option was the favoured one. Tony, anychance of doing it on a larger scale, say Van size?

Hi M/C "You forget that the van WAS a Roads van serial 4B212.. The family were over tonight and it seems that Tony's first option was the favoured one." Who is tony?? All depends on if you want to put an individuals touch on the van and go with the curves or ... I ya want it to look like a works van then go with the straight stripe, get the thing signwritten with "PMG 4B212 and dress all the family up like PMG workers when ya display the van......how authentic would that be. . Girly posters around the walls. A PMG "EZ 2 C" Calander with all the "workers " annual leave marked on it. toss a few form guides and a couple of "PIX" "Post" or "Playboy" mags on the table, an ashtray full of smoke buts and torn up lotteryand TAB tickets . She will okk like she has just come out of service . On the other hand you could put a tastefull stripe with nice curves on the van and say... i restored this and designed the side flash... and people will admire you. Just one thing about stripes on old vans .. i have never seen one that has stripes that kick "Up" at the back. All i have seen are stripes / flashes that radius down at the rear and follow the curve of the van. mid to late sixties alloy vans went to lightning bolt type flashes that where broad at the rear narrowing to a point at the front... Thats not to say that you cant do a kicked up stripe.. after all .. no matter what the poll comes up with ( 5 votes for curves Nil for straight) being an individual and doing what YOU want is what its all about . Reddo

I really hate it when I have to agree with what Reddo says...... but what he said (this time) is true . The stripes usually start narrow at the front and gradually widen and curve downwards towards the rear..... but then, as you say it WAS a roads (government ) 'van, it aint meant to look pretty, so maybe Reddo is wrong..... yeah , I go for horizontal stripe all the way around. Cobber.

Ummm, Tony is the artist that just did all those variations for me and curves are the outright winner.
As for authentic roads van, umm, maybe not. Took me ages to get the roads crew smell out of it.. Was worse than the rotting bondwood smell...
Gristy, yeah it's the skanky van from next to the knitwear factory in Moorabbin.
We had a cup of tea in her whilst i was working on her on Sunday. Partner looks around and says, are you definatley going to sell this? I said I think so, coz if i don't, with the other two i want, we'd have 3 plus the modern camper trailer AND the Wildgoose that goes with the mini.. I got shrugged shoulders as "does that really matter"
GUYS, DID I HEAR RIGHT? Was that permission to go Van mad?

Hi Chris, I don't know who that "Reddo" guy is and I might be stepping over the line of a fobbergrosser to help a bondy guy >:(but here is a "sloping down" pair to keep "him" happy. ;D ;D Cheers, TonyH
