Recently I came across one of those fibreglass caravans from the 70's at Tin Can Bay which I see discussed about on here and a stainless steel silver square caravan with a porthole window in very good condition in Gympie. I haven't got pics of either but can provide further details if anyone is interested. I approached the stainless steel caravan owners and they weren't interested in selling but we didn't discuss price I'm sure if someone offered them a decent amount since they live in a shack like dwelling they might take you up on the offer. The stainless steel caravan is in very good condition or so it appeared from a distance and has the original running writing on the front top section although I couldn't read it from a distance and hadn't the time to enquire further about it as it was a spure of the moment thing approaching the owner at the front door. I will keep an eye out for the Don that is may still be in the district sold in 71-73.

Hi Malabuh The "stainless steel" van you seen will be a Carapark. Maybe a 10/9 junior or similar. If it is bigger than 10ft it will probably be an ex work van. Used extensively by the Dept of main roads and the P.M.G ( now telstra) back in the 60s. They are made of aluminium. If they where stainless steel they would literally weigh a tonne and hence be worth more in scrap metal than what they would be worth complete. Reddo

Thanks Reddo for the info - makes me feel better about not being able to look at it closely or buy it.
