Holden 13" will do the job.......I think the stud pattern is the same on all 13".........the main variation is that some are rivetted and some are welded. If the van has after market electric brakes the rivetted rims may not clear the brake drums. Regards.......Humpty.

All 13" Holden wheels have the same stud pattern from '56 up (HK 14" wheels share the same stud pattern). The difference is in relationship to brakes. If HR style brakes are fitted (wider) then the later wheels need to be used to allow correct fitting of wheel to drum (wheel centre will distort drum and not allow correct tensioning of the wheel). eg early brakes = early or late wheels Late brakes = late wheels. These are identified by a single hole (~3/16"), drilled in the centre on the rise for the wheel cap) Hope this helps.

thanks/ once again this site provides the information, so i take it the later wheels would be the safer bet??? oh and are radials okay or do they track differently to cross ply's?

Hi Ralphy,
I dont really know if there is any difference.
I have run cross ply on the last 4 vans I've had, after being told by a guy I respect that they really are the better tyre for a van. I will continue to run cross plies on all my vans I rebuild.
My Sunliner runs 6" wide Torana 13" wheels, with 6.40x13" 6 ply Indian tyres. I've towed it around 10,000 km in the last year or so. It doesnt sway or wobble, & I've towed with 2 different vehicles. It tows great up to 120KMH when overtaking, so I'm happy with the cross plies.
Other guys run radials, & reckon their van tows great. Again I dont know if theres much difference, but I haven't bothered to try both on the same van to see if there is a noticeable difference. Jailbarjuice

My Sunliner is running on radials.....retreads at that! Towing from Newcastle to Mt. Gambier and back again I never felt the van was doing anything but following the car. I tow at about 90klms per hour and anyone having towed a Sunliner will tell you it tows like a dream............. even reddo! ;D ;D I think the radial / crossply difference would be more pronounced on a large and heavy caravan.

Humps wrote. "I tow at about 90klms per hour and anyone having towed a Sunliner will tell you it tows like a dream.............even reddo! " Very true.. S#n#i#e#s do tow well. I tow at the speed limit.. 110KPH where permissible .I had a stint of about 5ks at 75 MILES PER HOUR . along the Hume Hwy towing Hillbillys sunliner to MT G. Tyres on the van where 6.40 X 13s crossplys.. No load levelers/sway bars. Never had a swaying moment on the whole trip. Reddo.. Not going soft in my old age.. Bondwoods are best ya know.

hi Koala & Ralphy.
I got a bonnet, its sitting in the garden as a bit of yard art.
The engines a Ford Windsor, bored & stroked to 426 cubes, or just under 7 litre. Its got all the good bits I could buy when I built it in the late 80's. It didn't get used until 2000.
Its set up with a pretty low tune, & idles along nicely.
I had clutch problems with the recently fitted Tremec 5 speed, so I just spent another bucket of loot putting in a new clutch, pressure plate, re-machined flywheel, re-aligned clutch linkages, new rear wheel bearings, reconditioned diff with new 4.11 gears( changed from 3.5)
I also finally got the leaking sump ( from the trip to Morgan a couple of years back) fixed properly, & put a new accellerator pedal & cable in.
Its like driving a different car. The clutch is softer (replacing the identical parts removed), & the accellerator is much easier, & I've finally got full throttle. It revs out to the rev limiter in first, second & third without any effort. Thats as fast as I want to go on the road, & just a tad over the speed limit.
Its all fun. Better than being normal.

Hi Ralphy,
Boots wears cotton wool in her ears when she travels in the rod. Dont worry me cause I'm near deaf when I drive it.
