Hi All, Jim's the name better known on the Classic Caravan Web Site as Kiwijim, Being the owner of the Thomas T line Gleneagle as shown here some of you may be interested in a bit of history concerning this van. I found the Thomson sitting in a trucking yard in Welshpool about 4 months ago, it had been there for about 4 years gathering dust and grime after the previous owner passed away, I managed to contact the wife of the owner who told me that they had rescued it from a wreckers yard in Welshpool in the mid 80's they then rebuilt it and had taken it around Aussie twice since. We now intend to restore it to its former glory and maybe take it around Aussie for the third time. A few facts about the Thomson are as follows = being manifactured in Scotland in 1970 it is 17.02 ft long, on a single axle with 165x15 in tires, the interior consists of two single beds in the front, central slide out D/bed and a rear kitchen with a two burner, grill and oven, an enclosed rest room is next to the rear door. having a boat hull roof there is about 7.5 ft of head room, the van is fully insulated with a wool type material and is surprisingly cool even on the hottest day. As far as I know this is the only Caravan of it's type and Brand in Aussie, if anyone knows of another I would be very happy to hear of it. I hope this bit of info is of some interest to you. Happy Caravaning and Merry Christmas to you all. Kiwijim

Thanks Will & Jim for posting information on this Thompson ‘van.... made in Scotland. I expect that when it was built Jim the insulation was to keep the cold out, here it keeps the cold in..... wonderful stuff eh I always wonder, and think it would be interesting to hear why these ‘vans were brought all the way to Oz, and left here. Was the manufacturer testing the market.... did the owner think we didn’t have caravans here, did they intend going around the world, or had they been around the world and Oz was the end of the line. There has to be a story in there somewhere. Thompson caravan enthusiasts have a good web site here.Cobber.
