1947 Botterill & Fraser caravan: Information: The company was apparently boat builders who turned out the occaisional van or two in the years after WW2. They were in Melbourne The lights are brass rings around frosted glass domes (3"/75mm Dia) The gadget buffs will like the "pop-up" vent. This is operated by twisting a handle over the bench..attached to a dowel that runs through the roof! A very early "Robin Hood" range hood! The picture also shows how 1/2 round timber edging was used!..this is one of the "little" things that grabbed me... Quote from an article on 'Tumlaren' class racing yachts found in the magazine of the Classic Yacht Association of Australia: "Season 1947-48 saw Zea (no 308) added to the fleet, built by Botteril & Fraser for Bruce Robinson under the supervision of Charlie Peel."(Source: Tony Fredricks, "The Tumlarens: Part II" in Classic Yacht Association of Australia Magazine, Issue 23, January 2007, p 11. www.classic-yacht.asn.au/files/4785%20CYAA%20Jan07%205.1.pdf )There are also one or two other references to Botterill & Fraser on the web relating to boating. This provides some confirmation of Jazhow2's comment that Botterill & Fraser were (primarily?) involved in boat building as well as building caravans. Advertisement for Botterill & Fraser caravans from the Melbourne Argus of 11 December 1948 (p 16): Notice the reference to 'boat caravans', whatever that may mean. However it does fit in with info above about Botterill & Fraser being boat builders.
