G'day all, Im new to this site and am firstly looking at identifiying my caravan.we've only owned it for 4 months and bought it to accomadate our vintage Holden EK Special Station Sedan our plans are to freshen it up a bit,but keep that original look, as per the EK.We havnt started on it as yet but plan to re-do the beds/seat and curtains etc.then repaint it. All we know about the van at this stage is its been in a shed for twenty odd years,is in original condition, has a canvas roof, metho burner stove,an old fire extinguisher, ice box. Q:would/should it have ID tags or anything which states make/year etc,and if so where would it be located? Any info would be greatly appreciated ;D

G'Day mint62 Welcome to vintage vans, I can not help with the make or date, But a few vans back then were home made from kits. Would be good to see some shots of the inside. Regards David dosse

Mint 62, what a great caravan you've have there ......looks very 1940'ish ......and very much like a South Australian "Furness" of the 1930's and 40's .......some inside pics would be appreciated. Your EK really does look mint, but what happened to the nice original hubcaps ..... .......and wheels don't give an accurate date to the age of a caravan, coz caravan manufactures and DIY'ers mostly used old wheels for caravans. G'day Mint62, Welcome to the V V site ;D That is a little gem you have got hold of there, at a rough guess I would agree with those who say it was home made sometime in the late 40's, to my mind the lack of wheel arches and the "barn style" door and the mould over the plywood joins date it back then. But if Mark says it could be a S.A. Furness he won't get an argument from me As everybody has said, we'd like to see some inside photos. I hope you were saying "our plans are to freshen it up a bit, but keep it original" Cobber.

Hi Mint 62' Your van is not a Furness, as Furness vans had sliding doors and the band or sash was totally different. Your van could be a Regal, built in South Australia. I have a small photo of one on the centre page of Keith Winser's Book 10 1958 also there is a photo of a Furness on the same page. If you would like to contact me - phone 0412986579 or 8258 9295. I live in Salisbury Downs S.A. Raym
