Hi, I've just joined the forum so I hope I'm posting this in the right place I'm new to caravanning, but being a classic car fan (I have a 1962 Mercedes 190SL) I've just decided to search for a beautiful 'classic' caravan - rather than buying an ugly modern caravan. I'm after something like a mid-1970s Viscount Royal or Supreme, either with a reasonable fitout, just a shell, or something I can 'bring back' to being fairly original, but adding modern safety features. I live in Sydney, so I'd be very interested in seeing anything within a reasonable driving distance. I've struggled to find specifications for classic caravans, so I'm not entirely certain about the weights of various models - any advice would help a lot. My car has a towing capacity of 1,600 kg, so a caravan with a tare weight of maybe 1,000-1,200 would be good - I think that puts me in the 16ft range for older vans. I'm likely to upgrade the car in the near future, so a larger caravan would be OK too. Any advice / suggestions / leads would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Gary
