12 Foot Don Caravan, 1952
A beautiful timeless piece of Australian caravan history, made in Melbourne.
In good condition with original interior and leadlight windows. Fully registered & ready to use. The undercarriage and chassis were completey replaced so towing is easy. Original furnishings, mattresses, curtains, bakelite fittings and paintwork inside. Comes with the original annex and poles. Wear and tear commensurate with age.

Selling Price: $15,000
This caravan is very beautiful, functional and tough and she turns heads everywhere. Currently stored in Reservoir, Melbourne - easy to arrange a viewing.
Sleeps 4
1 x double and 2 x single (bunk beds)
The bunk beds fold into a couch, the table folds into a double bed
Lots of storage under the lounge chairs and the bed
Original 1954 mattresses and apolstery
Original12 Volt power you can charge via solar- USB charging also 24 Volt Power
Gas/electric fridge works, gas stove top cooker
Water storage & tap
Original spare tyre
Original, working light fittings
Original leadlight windows

Alterations Made
Undercarriage & chassis completely replaced 10 years ago
The original icebox has been replaced with a two way gas/electric fridge.
The original stove replaced in the 70’s?
24 volt power points & lights installed
One drawer with original drinking glasses was removed to fit in the fridge, but we still have it.
Needs Work
Pull down hatch on door needs a new hinge.
grill on stove needs a service, currently not working
wooden dowling around one window needs replacing
metal attachment on table leg has come away from the floor.
Linolium at door and under table is loose in places
one small pane of glass is broken
carpet is very worn in places
one original light fixture not working
one exterior light casing cracked
exterior paint cracked on roof
significant tear in the annex canvas, otherwise the canvas is in very good condition.
Waterproof! It does not leak. It only leaked once after 6 hours of continuos heavy rain and even then only around the window in a small section. Since then the exterior has been re-painted. We use a solar panel to power the original 12 volt light lighting.

* I am very grateful to the help I received from this community when I first purchased the van about ten years ago. Thanks to the advice I received I was able to completely sandpaper off the old paint and re-apply the correct exterior paint to keep her waterproof and lovely. *
