I recently bought a Viscount 1965 model. It is registered Chassis number E 7540. I would like to know if this is the correct year model and is it an Ambassador. I do have more photos if needed, Thanks Rick

Hi Rick56, Welcome to the forum and thanks for showing us your new van. Based on the serial number of E7540, your van is a 1968 Viscount Ambassador with an aluminium frame, so not 1965. The above information is based on a Viscount register compiled by forum member Twocutekelpies. Hope that helps. Don Ricardo

Hi Don, Thank you for the quick reply. I have also been doing my own research since I posted the thread and thought it might be a Viscount Valiant Alumvan. Thanks again, Rick

Hi Rick56,
Your van is definitely an Ambassador and not a Valiant, although as you’ll be aware they came out of the same factory and shared many components.
Your van can be identified as an Ambassador because of it’s shape - the back window is inset into the back wall, instead of just having the Valiant’s straight back wall.
In addition the ‘E’ in the serial number indicates that it is an Ambassador with an aluminium frame. If it was a Valiant, the serial number would start with either ‘B’ (wood frame) or ‘C’ (aluminium frame). If it was an Amassador with a wood frame, the serial number would start with ‘D’.
