For early Holden fans This must be a rare vehicle, one I've never seen before.. We came across this FX Holden Station Wagon in The Birdwood Moor Museum on the way home from Morgan.

Hi Jim.
This station wagon was built by a body building company in NSW (I think) There was a couple of companies that did this conversion and there is about 3 that I know of. Its funny that they actually cut dow a sedan to make these and not a ute. Even GMH experimented with a stationwagon and built one prototype which is still on the road today.
Cheers Trodler.

G'day Trod
That makes sense, it looks like a modified sedan. Maybe it was easier to have the rear door and back seat area already in place and work on the roof-tailgate section rather than than add the rear door?
The owner of this vehicle is shown as GMH but maybe they rescued it and did the restoration.
Did you get the message I sent you about your avatar?

Hi, that paticular wagon was found in a creekbed in Victoria, it was pulled out by the "Hughes" brothers who then rebuilt it . It was on display at Echuca in Vic for a while & then sold to GMH a few years ago & has been at Birdwood since. It is one of a few that was built in Cheltenham in Melbourne by a Body builder between 49-53.

The green station wagon is definitely still on the road.Well it was a few years ago when myself and a mate went to the 50th Anniversary of Holden at Lang Lang in Melbourne.
Just as a matter of interest a mate of mine here in Adelaide has a HR Panel van,so what you may say,one with 3 doors,2 1/2 foot longer than a normal PV and with a FACTORY Prem interior. It was a Hearse originally.
When i first showed up with my Valiant Pacer station wagon a few years ago didn't that stir up a few of the experts !! VF 7 S 45-1 was the chassis number.
Cheers All
Dave
I could mention the green factory Leyland P76 V8 station wagon that was sold a year or so ago out of Adelaide.............

Also interesting to note that TRAX made a 1/43rd scale model of the FJ wagon. I think i seen one for auction on ebay recently.
