Here is my 1965 bug pic taken at a recent antique car rally in Cootamundra. I completed its restoration in August last year, but these old cars are never really finished Mine is the blue one on the left

Very cute AAHHH -reminds me of my 1963 standard V wobbly - a well disguised rally car!!! Dirty big 2 inch support pipes underneath to hold her together and a nicely tweaked motor that could drag the old Monaro off at the lights, much to their surprise Yep, I was KOOOLLL once too!!!! Ray

G'Day VDN Veeeerrryyyy nice. Brakes mate, Ya gunna need brakes!!! I know there is not much to an old teardrop but i would imagine that there is still a fair bit of weight to pull up. I have still wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after having nightmares about the time i got a 7'X4' box trailer load of ironbark firewood up the mountains. The trailer shunted the little baja down the winding mountain road at a helluva pace. Even with disc brakes i had the brake pedal squashed as hard as the legs could push it. back in second gear with the motor doing its best to provide some engine braking at 6000 RPM. Got to the bottom and got out and kissed the ground talk about relieved.!!!! ;D Being a 1965 model your wobbly would have drums all round??? Can you sneak a coupla discs under the front without getting a smack from the purists in the VW world. Otherwise consider a sunroof and ejector seat for the run down Kurrajong bends or for that hair raising run down into Lithgow on Bells Line rd. Go Herbie!!!!! Reddo P.S Reddos tow car is a 2 tone green FB Holden wagon similar to the blue EK wagon on the right in your picture

hahaha Thanks guys, I will need to upgrade the standard 4 drum set up to some discs up front There is a bolt in kit available. I think it would be quite terrifying being pushed along by a trailer! I may have to look at a parachute and some steel plate for the heel of my right shoe as well! Early VW's did make tough little rally cars. You could just about drive them up a wall in 1st gear! I could'nt bare the thought of taking my old girl off the bitumen though Ray haha Those early Holdens are nice vehicles Reddo I grew up riding in the back seat of my parents HG Kingswood station wagon ahhh the memories Atleast they were equipped with reasonably good brakes too. Greetings I am currently restoring a 1961 Beetle which my Nana bought new. I've been driving it for thirty years now. The seven years we spent on the Chatham Island dirt road ate away the floorpan and I had to put inter-tar on - so she isn't very pretty. Realistically its not much fund in these cold South Island (New Zealand) winters to be driving a six volter, but everyone is allowed their projects which may be a bit out there in relation to reality. Oohh thats right I also have the 1950's Argosy Delux, which I'll need a bigger vehicle to tow. A recent, but sort of old, saying here is women can do anything - hopefully I'll learn to grasp reality... Regards Zippie '
