Hi Guys, Other than a creative mind I have no idea how to do simple repairs. Im trying to simply repair so that its usable. Plain with 2 beds. I have a 1976 ANGLO CARRI. Firstly I just want to know how to strip back the paint on the exterior. I have a engineer friend who has said to.use a sander with 320 grit paper. I see videos online people doing this so many other ways e.g. paint thinner and scrapers. Im about to make a start on this tomorrow with my sander. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Key is easy, simple and low cost. Fingers crossed. Thanks in advance.

Hi Noob439 Firstly buy a face mask with a replaceable filter. The paint should be lead free, but you still need to protect your lungs. If the sander is orbital, be careful of creating cuts (half moons) at the end of your stroke, slow & easy wins the renovation race.
Thinners are used to remove ALL the paint, if your paint is somewhat sound, there may not be a need to sand back to raw timber.
Your friend sounds knowledgeable & may like to inspect after you make a start. Post an image here & lets know how you get on. Cheers Mustang

Thanks for the response. Attached some photos! 🙂 I found using a 120 grit finished with a 320 grit worked perfectly. I just need hand sand the edges where the orbital sander can't reach but its been great. So many stone dents and ALOT of tiny dents all over but I am merely stripping back the paint to prime, bog the major indents and have a friend paint. Today I had a electrical inspector assess the electrics and happy to report 1 light to replace and 1 light to rewire, very minor and he's happy to pass it. I have all new exterior lights on order and should be arriving any day. I'm not aiming for a brand new look or professional finish, just clean, tidy & functional. Budget also something to be mindful of. I am curious however if I should do some type of sealer over all the edges before my friend prime and paints. Attachments:
