Hey, I've just inherited a Rambler Deluxe Preston.
Does anyone have a rough idea of the weight of these caravans?
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. If the weight information is not on these threads, nor on any rego papers you have, then it's best to take it to a weighbridge if you have one nearby. They are free and will tell you what your particular van weighs, because not all van weights are the same, depending on what they have inside.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I did think of that also. I just don't have a car that can tow it myself - I'm trying to research what car I should change to, but unsure what towing capacity I will need. These Rambler's look quite small, I'm hoping 750kg unbraked will do the trick.

Hard to say. What length is it and is it braked? It would be better if you started a separate thread in the General Section or even the member's photo section. That keeps the historical information threads tidier.

Hi Reobug, It's fantastic to hear that you've inherited a vintage or classic Rambler caravan. That sounds great. We will possibly be able to help you with more info or ideas if you can show us some photos of the van and tell us how long it is (just measure the length of the cabin excluding the drawbar). There is info on how to post photos if you click here. Just one thing to note about photos - I see that you are posting via your mobile phone (nothing wrong with that), but that means that if you want to post photos from your phone using the 'Add Attachment' button, there's one more step to take in the instructions you need to follow (it's all explained there). By the way, you'll see I've moved your original post asking for info about your van (and the replies) to this new thread in the General section where it will get more notice. Hope that's ok. I've sent you a PM (Personal Message via the forum) and an email to let you know, so I hope you won't feel too confused. Don Ricardo for the Admin Team

Hi Folks The OP has sent me these pics of his inherited Rambler This looks like a twin to the van Jenniwren picked up for wallet change back in 2013. Was there ever a conclusion as to whether it was a Rambler or a rebadged van? The van is about 10 ft long and braked, so putting it over a weighbridge is advisable. Don't know if Jenniwren is still around to shed some light on the weight question.

Hi all,the van is a Newlands, wooden frame. It looks about 10.6 so weight would be about 900 kg I would think. It has override brakes,so depending on what you want to tow with it should be ok,loaded weight will be about 1100 kg. Cheers hughdeany

Thanks for all the information Roehm3108 & hughdeany. That gives me something to work with! I'll give you an update once I can get it on a weighbridge in the near future.

Hi Roehm, Reobug's Rambler looks identical to Jenniewren's, so I think it's a fair bet that hers was also built by Newlands. Don Ricardo
