Debating whether or not to use 12mm hardwood ply or 12mm structural pine ply on the floor of the Franklin. Either way it will be sealed with bitumen rubber. I’m debating strength and weight ?? Grain will be going across the van not length ways.

Hi guys! Long time no hear! For those member who don't know jamesandbel, some years ago they did a magnificent ground up resto of their little Harris van, which had been used as a mascot on the roof of a caravan dealer in west Sydney!!
Back to your question. I used a 12mm structural ply on the floor of Cino Vardo. In my case I had a layer of gal sheet metal there already, but if you're intending to seal it underneath, it should be OK, as long as you have the framing to support it. My preference would be to go up to a bit more thickness like 16mm. 12mm might make the floor feel a bit spongy - but that depends on how close the floor framing is.
