Hi People with gas... Or should that read .. "High people with gas" Just been searching for info on Autogas outlets between Newcastle and Mt Gambier. Found this site helpfull. Just tap in your start and finish points and it will give you the distances from home and locality of servos that have Autogas. Once you have the list of servos up on the screen you can scroll towards the end of the info and it will also give you driving directions, distances and times to your destination.... www.nowwhere.com.au/lpga/planner/default.aspxCcccccccccccccccooooooooooooooooooooolllllllll. All ya have to do now is hope they are open when you limp into town with your fuel gauge on "E" Reddo

Yeah I stumbled across it ( The autogas site) while researching costs on 10 year inspections of Autogas tanks. I pulled mine out of the ute on sunday and gave it to my son Joel to drop off at the only gas tank re-certifier in Newcastle. I spoke with him last week and he promised the same day turn around. He rings the sarvo to say it will be ready tomorrow. Good job i didnt leave it until next week Funny how the autogas sales pitch fails to mention the extra $20 per annum you pay on top of your normal rego inspection in NSW. and also the $220 recert fee every 10 years. Slowly but surely the gap is closing between gas prices and petrol prices. Gas got up towards 80 cents just after the new year... A taste of things to come . I have used the Trip planner to work out scheduled stops on the way to Mount G... But i based it on at least a 1/4 of a tank being left at each fill up point. I know i can get 180 MILES out of around 50 litres and still have a quarter of a 65 litre tank left but.... towing a van knocks things around a bit and i will be looking at the gauge at around 150 miles. If i see a garage . I will fill up rather than run an extra 20 or 30 miles on the fumes. Also gunna borrow one of those naughty hoses that you can use to drain your 20kg BBQ bottle into your tank. It'll be there if i get stuck but it shouldnt get to that stage. I remember the 2006 east coast tour . Will and Lynn being stuck at Lithgow the day after the October long weekend and heavy demand on gas in the town had left the place drained of gas. They managed to con the local bus co into letting them fill up at the bus depot. Also had dramas when i went to Goulburn in January towing the TD. Planned a stop at a big servo on the highway south of Sydney. Got there and the gas bowser was tagged off..... oooo bugger. Had to drive through a large concrete culvert to a servo on the other side of the highway to fill up. Lucky i had the TD on and not a full sized van. Would have meant unhitching and then driving through the culvert.. fuel up.. back through the tunnel .. hitch up again and move on. Mega bucks fine for doing a u turn on an expressway. So glad the tunnel option was there. Anyway brudders. Hope ya play it smart and dont run out of gas on the meander. Have a great trip. There is an old boy scout reciepe for making gas... its called "Baked Beans" Ya know i have a roster day next Monday... and Coledale is only a bit over 3 hours from here.... could blow down there for 2 or 3 days of pre meander drinks and meander home on monday Reddongas

Hi Reddo,
thanks for that. If we ever manage to get our Dodge running properly on gas & /or petrol, it will be a big help.
Might still end up having to bring the old reliable jailbar again.
Whatever happens we'll get there. We'll be down your way Friday arvo I hope. See ya then.

......................................which reminds me of the time ,many years ago, when a young lad by the name of Dennis Watts turned up at a hot rod meet out at Dickygundi,( the other side of Dubbo) wearing a hat made out of a fox pelt. . .....................a la Daniel Boon and Davey Crockett style.......... when asked by the locals why he was wearing a hat made out of a fox skin, in 40 degree heat. ...........Dennis replied........................ ...................................................."well, when I told me mates that I was driving out to Dickygundi for a hot rod show ", .............they said ...................................................".......Dickygundi?............where the fox hat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ...................never lose that sense of humor JB. ;D ;D ;D .....see ya soon.................at the Mount,......... or a bit before....................we're headin' out tomorrow............Yamba tomorrow night.
