Hi all, I'm planning to leave Sth Gippsland on Wed 29th April heading to Victor Harbour (arriving Fri 1st May) for my first Nationals event (yay me!) There are a few other solo women travellers attending and we are planning to meet up along the way but I'm sure there are many other members (not just solo women) planning the same journey from Melbourne & beyond, so I thought I'd create a post where we can discuss possible meet up locations, pitstops, caravan parks etc...
Having never done this road trip before - and it's a 10 hour drive for me - my plan is to take my time and enjoy it, so any recommendations would be welcome.
Cheers, Lisa

I’ll be travelling too Gidget.
Keen to travel in a convoy if there is one. I’m leaving from melb. I’m 8 kms from CBD.
When a travel plan and stop points are worked out, I’ll fit in. Thanks for this. A great idea.

Sadly you will not come anywhere near my neck of the woods. I cannot attend the Nationals but would love to join any convoys stopping for a night within 1 hour of Echuca.

Hi SGTL, Judging from their stopping points along the way, the group traveling from Sydney and the ACT to the Nationals will be passing and stopping not too far from you. Might be worth checking out for a VV fix. More details here. Don Ricardo

Hi Brenten. Having never done the trip before (well I was a passenger when I was 10 but remember nothing except it was long and boring and I thought it would never end), I would be open to suggestions. My thinking is to follow the A8 highway, staying at Ararat on Wednesday night then Keith on Thursday night. Arriving at Victor Harbour in the early afternoon on Friday 1st May.
Wednesday 29th April: Acacia Caravan Park, Ararat Vic - $30pn powered site Thursday 30th April: Keith Caravan Park, Keith SA - $30pn powered site
Both of these caravan parks get good reviews on Wikicamps, are dog friendly, have drive through sites available and are walking distance to their town centre.

Count Laraine and Ralph in Lisa. Sounds like a good plan. We will have to make a meeting point for Wednesday 29th, 'Korumburra, Drouin or somewhere along the the way. 2 vans from Gippsland, who else wants to join us?

Coronet, the inbound BP Truckstop on the Princess FWY at Officer is probably a good spot for all Gippslanderers (Gippslandians?) to meet up.

That suits me Lisa. Have you heard from Lisa and Pam yet or anyone else? We can work out times a little nearer to 29-4-20
