Hi Tillynsid, this is a very difficult question to answer, what is a BBB Rigby? From my research I'm guessing it may be a very old Road Cruiser caravan? Is that correct? If so, being such an old van, the only way to accurately state the weight is to take it over a weighbridge. Unlike mass produced caravans like Viscount & Franklin where folks may have a rough idea, there are very few people who own very old bondwoods. Mine have weights from 750kg through to 1.6t unladen (that is, without water, gas, luggage, food etc). Sorry I can't be more helpful. SGTL

Hi Tillynsid, Welcome to the forum. Are you asking about the Roadcruiser caravan shown in this thread: click here? The 1959 Roadcruiser that belonged to Mark T shown in the photos was nicknamed the BBB {Big Beautiful Bondy) and was originally owned by some people called Rigby, so I'm wondering if that's what you're referring to? It was located in Western Australia for a while, but I'm fairly sure has now been sold, and I don't think any of us know where it is now. Likewise I don't think any of us know its weight, apart from the fact that it would be quite heavy for a vintage van (but not compared to some modern vans). Am I on the right track in answering your question? Let us know. We'll help you if we can. Don Ricardo

Thanks for the compliment Grandad. However, we should acknowledge SGTL who also managed to work out what Tillynsid were referring to. Hopefully Tillynsid will come back on the forum and tell us more. Don Ricardo

Well, aren't you quite the detective Don? Well done sir Jimm Please excuse me as im trying to work out how this site works The rigby caravan that is photographed in the thread is now down south Western Australia. I am the new custodian of her and she is in great hands. She has a new name i have decided to call her Sunday. The van will go to a weigh bridge to get the weight. There will be many fond memories to make in her yet as she will be taken on the road

Hi Tillynsid, No need to apologise for your posts. All of us have had to learn how to navigate the forum at some point, but it gets easier with time. Just sing out if you need any help along the way. It's great to know that you have the Rigby's Roadcruiser. It's a very special van and worthy of being loved and cared for, as I'm sure you do and will. You're also very fortunate to know the history of the van (only a few of us have that), and to have some photos of the van when it was new - and being towed by a Rolls Royce! I am sure that you have an equally appropriate tow vehicle... You do don't you? We'll look forward to hearing about your journeys with the van. Don Ricardo

I still have a couple of original Roadcruiser letter heads given to me ( as well as a brand new build plate) that the son of the builder gave me around 8 or 9 years ago. I gave one to Mark, I'm not sure if the letter head was sold with the caravan or not. The letter heads are nicely embossed on beautiful paper of which you don't see the quality of today.

thank you all for replying to my intermittent post im looking at putting the BBB on the road and was advised i may need to alter her tow hitch and add lighting to the external of the van to comply with WA road rules. Meh anywhoo im not interested in changing 1 single thing on her as she is 100% in tact and im wondering if there is such thing as a vintage van rego?? I can do so i dont have to add crap to something that is so special and original. My email address is la.rooster@hotmail.com if anyone would like to communicate with me about the BBB im struggeling to navigate this proboard site Thanks again look forward to hearing from you♥️
