G'day David,
For what it's worth, when we wanted to fit electric brakes to our Don 140 (1983), we were told that our hubs, etc couldn't be adapted and that we would have to replace the whole kit and caboodle - axle, hubs, wheels, etc. This meant changing from the original 16" wheels to HQ 14" wheels.
I am by no means contradicting JBJ. He knows a whole lot more about the subject than I do, and I didn't know enough at the time to check out all the options that he has suggested to you. But sometimes it's useful just to share our experiences.
In some ways reducing the height of the van by the few centimetres involved in using the smaller wheels was perhaps not such a bad thing - it's high enough even on 14" wheels. All the same the original wheels filled the wheel arch better, and they were - well - original. ;D ;D

G'Day All Thanks Dennis & Don for your advise and help. I rang a business to-day hear in Brisbane and explained what I wanted to do, Keeping the original Don wheels. The answer was yes, no problem at all. Thanks again Regards David dosse.
