I bought a sunliner early this year, part restored, but have recently bought a second one, very original. I intend to cannibalise running gear etc from the one I bought early to fit out the recent purchase.
But I have some questions, both general and specific, and I hope that someone will have the answers:
When did Sunliners stop production?
The interior is that wonderful 'plush' fabric - any suggestions for a replacement
How can you tell if the leaf suspesion needs replacing? Likewise the axle - its probably about 30 years old, the bearings seem good, but I wonder about the erosion on the shaft.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I've started the repair by wire brushing the sub frame - will rust treat, prime. coat, etc over the next few days, and then over christmas do the interior and paint/recoat
Thanks

Sunliners were produced from 1958 till 1966. The first one you have was made in Bundaberg.......identified by the front windows (and the fact that the previous owner saw Bundaberg written on the floor). Second one I haven't seen. If you are referring to the 'quilted' roof lining........the last person I heard of getting one replaced was quoted $2500 If you are worried about the leaf springs, take them to Dumbrells. The axle should present no problems and the bearings should be Holden. Check your Personal messages. Regards Humpty

If the springs are straight, replace.

I just replaced my springs on my Sunny Sunliner 2 months ago. The bearings places supply springs, I put 8 leaf on mine which was better than a lifter kit. You must measure the distance between the bolts on the shazy to get the right size and they do only come in certain sizes. These cost 77.00 each and $200.00 to fit.
