Hey all . Two questions:
The safety chain that goes from the van to the car. how long/loose should it be?
and
I would like to wax my van for a bit of extra protection. Should I do this to a timber van? and if so, what sort of wax do you put on an acrylic paint?
Thanks Scoot

hi scoot' re the safety chain. it should be long enough to allow full turning but not long enough for the tow hitch to touch the ground when hanging on the chain(s). the new laws say you should have two chains (which connect to the tow bar and not the goose neck) and they should be crossed to create a cradle if the hitch jumps off the ball. re the polish. i don't know what the best polish would be for house acrylic, but from memory, the karate kid was told, "wax on - clockwise motion, wax off - anticlockwise motion". hope this helps. geoff

I would say to watch out which polish to use as some will leave a resadue that will make it hard to paint when it is required Wildmanaus

Hi Scoot. Wouldnt bother about wax'n the van. Just repaint it after a couple of years. With the brush marks in the paint it will be very hard to completly polish the was off, and when you do repaint it will be pritty hard for the paint to "stick"over the wax film.
Just use it and have fun.
Cheers. Trodler.
