Tomorrow the dented aluminium panel is coming off the front of the Atlantic and a new one is going on - supplied and cut to size by the wonderful people at Croydon Industries.
The big worries are: - will it come off easily? - what will we find underneath? - what's the best way of fitting a new panel without dropping it and slicing off a few toes?
If anyone has experience with this step we'd love to glean some gems of wisdom.

Belinda I just put mine on. I didnt however take one off. But this is what i did I put it up against the van and made sure that it fit, and that there was also something there to screw it into. Then I predrilled all the holes in the metal. Covered all the ends and zigzagged across it with sikaflex or similiar, then two of us very quickly put it up against the van and screwed it from the centre out to make sure it was flat. Then just as quickly wiped up the excess sikaflex with turps and rags. Hope that helps Scoot

Job done! The new panel went on without any problems and looks great. It just shows how important it is to get out and about with the old vans. Every time we go away in the van it makes us solve some practical problem, and display days like Motorfest mean fixing cosmetic problems like dings and chipped paint

Oops Royce, I forgot to answer your questions on this one
Can you tell me what price Croydon Industries charged to make the panel for you? From memory it was about $60, which is the Capral list price. It is so soft and easy to cut you may as well just buy a sheet and cut it yourself with scissors.
did you collect it or was it shipped? Rob was going to collect it with the roof bars, but it was so soft he couldn't get it home flat. In the end we paid Croydon Industries another $50 to deliver it.
Do you have an option for anodised aluminium - eg white or black? The only options are for the texture - ours is called "stucco". It is a Capral product, so you can contact them directly or track down a local stockist.
