What is extra interesting about this magazine, is it contains information on how to build a caravan designed by the editor. Don Ricardo, I said I was going to throw a conundrum your way, have we ever heard of or seen the 'Motor Manual's New 14 Feet "Interstate''?

Hi SGTL, You will find Keith Winser designed lots of vans from 8 ft to 18 ft,The plans were in his collection of books. He was a man ahead of his time! I remember reading somewhere about a trip he did around Australia with a Morris Minor and an 8 ft caravan! Cheers hughdeani

Hi SGTL and Hughdeani, Yep, Hughdeani summed it up. Keith Winser did develop and publish a number of plans for caravans over the years, and also recycled some plans from elsewhere as well. I seem to remember the plans for the Interstate were published in a couple of caravan manuals, etc, but I can't recall seeing an actual one in real life. But as the plans say, the design could be adapted to any 14 ft shell, so perhaps we have seen some of the home built vans based on the Interstate but not recognised it? I presume your post isn't a hint that you happen to have come across an Interstate by any chance SGTL...? Of course, as we've discovered, Winser also worked quite closely with Ted Palmer and included a number of Palmer's plans in his various publications. Ted Palmer travelled extensively in some of his little 8 ft and 9 ft vans towed by quite small vehicles including an Austin A40 and a Morris Minor van. I am wondering if that is who you were thinking of when you posted Hughdeani? There's a pic here. Don Ricardo
