Hello - I'm new! I've read the thread on people getting the Sunliner wrap windows replaced. Does anybody know of anywhere in Melbourne where I could get replacements for mine? One is cracked and the rest are ugly and white. Am wondering whether we will have to do a DIY job or whether it's possible to get them made... Thanks! Oh - here's some pictures - I'm not sure what year my Sunliner is... flickr.com/photos/miaow/sets/72157594161381439/ Beth

Hi Beth . Welcome to the V V forum. Both of our sunliner "specialists", ( Humpty and Spyder ) are away on a group V V trip. They departed from Coledale after the getogether and will be away for another week or so. On their return, you will be inundated with all kinds of help, information and assistance as soon as they read your post!!! Spyder can source curved windows. He got a set for Jailbarjuice and myself. They will cost you 2 to 3 times more than you paid for your whole van!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, Clyde

Well...my van was $207.... I have heard of using heat to bend perspex, but I did want to stick with the 'bubble' look that the wrap windows have. I'll wait and see what Humpty and Spyder have to say! Thank you! B

Hi Beth!
Is that the Sunliner from Colo? There are four individual windows in the Sunliner, but all have the same radius curve you will have to have a mould made and heat the whole sheet of perspex in an oven and I know of a place in Sydney who does it , but don't know of anyone in Melbourne. If you have a problem you can ring me on 0247218451 Regards John.

Hi John, Sorry for the delayed reply - I've been away. Heating the whole sheet in an oven sounds daunting! I'll give you a call and get the details of the Sydney place - they may know someone in Melbourne who might be able to make them up for me. Yes - this is the Colo van - extremely neglected, but I have big renovation plans and a boatbuilder boyfriend who is very fibreglass friendly... Regards, B

jailbar i'm at work at the moment so I dont have the full model number here, but the antenna we use is a 360 degree (no need to directionally adjust) boat/caravan one made by arlec. It has a 12v amplifier included. You can see the same model for sale on ebay (i know you dont like ebay, but) at: cgi.ebay.com/TV-Antenna-For-Caravan-Boat-Motor-Home-4-x-4_W0QQitemZ170048677846QQihZ007QQcategoryZ102703QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemwe also have a standard digital set top box, about $60 - $80 from tagret or similiar outlets. gives dvd quality pictures and have never been in an area where we cant pick up all 4 normal channels, plus ABC2, plus the extra 10 or so additional channels in the 40's group plus the extra digital radio stations. well worth the dollars if you want to watch a bit of tv with good reception. hope this is helpful, geoff n jude just thought I'd add that we hang the antenna off the top of an extendable swimming pool vacuum handle (about 12' high all told).

hello miaow youve let the cat out of the bag now If we can all now sink to the floor on bended knee we will all join in a vintage prayer for our brother miaow annus dominus whatus maketh you doeth this thingeth brave new member as you are a new arrival to this site you can depend on us to welcome you to the fold after seeing your newest aquisition we know that these prayers we offer may be of absolutley no help in any way shape or form dear brothers and sisters as you all know we all take on our individual challenges as we go forth in our vintage van endeavours and I believe that brother miaow has taken on a challenge of immense proportios as we all share a common bond within our ever expanding tightknit group of eccentric brothers and sisters we all pull together when the need arises to share our collective knowledge to help in whatever way we can to be there in times of despair when things are not going right for one or the other we understand brother Miaow that there may be times when it all may seem to much when you skin is itching and the pustulations from the ingrained fibreglass give your sweat rash a new meaning when you lean on an interior wall and end up lying flat on your back in a wheelbarrow outside the van do not give up think of the glass as half full not half empty my son think of your endeavour as one small step through the wall of your sunliner but when you finish it it will be one great leap for man kind yes particularly our kind and as we look with fascination at your purchase we too are are waiting with baited breath for the ongoing pictures of your glass restoration Im sure brother Humpty and Brother Jailbar will give you sensible advice of what to do with your your your!!! jailbar, will and lyn
this tv thread is a little off track to the sunliner window thread but i think i need to clarify one important thing.
the arlec tv boat/caravan antenna is a real advantage to tv viewing because you don't need to adjust the direction to get a signal, but that is not the real answer to reception problems.
the real solution is the addition of a STANDARD DEFINITION DIGITAL SET TOP BOX, that picks up even a really weak analogue tv signal and converts it to a DIGITAL signal.
because of the digital signal wave pattern, the picture you receive will be either absolutely perfect or no picture at all (seen as momentary pixilation or little squares) until the signal is restored.
this is where in weaker signal areas with a SET TOP BOX you will generally get really good reception compared to heavy snow and shadowing with normal analogue reception.
i've found it excellent, both at home and in the van, for $60 its worth a shot.
hope this clarifies the situation for all you v v'ers out there who have shown interest in this subject.

Just had a close look at your van "Miaow"..............looks like about 1962........I couldn't see a 'spear' moulded at the front, (63 did).....and the interior with the 2 big cupboards over the sink are the same as my 1963 model. When I get mobile I will post some pics on the 63...........after I put the windows in will do (pick up the rubbers this weekend)
Regards Humpty

Thanks Humpty - 1962? My partner will like that - he is the same vintage - only two years older than my car! And thank you Will, my self nominated spiritual leader - if only I had read your writings last weekend, I would have been comforted as I sweated inside my mask while sanding in the sun. I appreciate the advice about Tooheys Dry, but I've already started on the Coopers - it seems to be quite effective, especially in regard to numbing the fibreglass rash. flickr.com/photos/miaow/302488002/in/set-72157594161381439/I have taken all the windows out and the rubbers and today I am about to go around and get all the manky crud off the bits that the sander can't reach. I am horrified by stuff that looks like black melted vinyl seems to have been used in some areas to seal the windows... Two of the main windows came out fine - the other two were already busted up. So I'm thinking I have a good basis for a mould - especially as they all have the same radius. I'm going to keep trying to find someone in Melb. to do them. The headlining is in pretty good nick, although, in my more wishful moments, I wonder how much it would be to replace the whole lot because I reckon there are a lot of dead bugs behind it. OK. Off I go, to keep trying to make it a big leap for mankind... Beth

Jailbarjuice, Do you have a picture of the ones you got from Spyder so I could see what they look like? I'm going to go and have a look at mine and see if they are all different sizes. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! B

Last time someone went to replace the vinyl roof lining the estimate was about $2500. ALL your cupboards would have to be out to do the job. I am about to tackle putting in the windows that were supplied through Spider. Let you know how they go.
Just took a closer look at your "slideshow"......your van is Exactly the same as the one I am doing up now!.except for that add on beside the stove. Would be interested to find out your chassis number....looks like its twin. My chassis number is 6301 X88 ( Jan 1963 88th built) Have you tried to find it, it should be on top of the chassis about 8inches back from the coupling. Those "sunliner" logos are from the "modern" Sunliner campervan range.....so no need to try to preserve them!!
