Ok guys i thought i would share my ideas about saving water and doing the things we use to to before the drought set in.
Now i know someone will always have a bigger tank, better pump better set up but here is a cheap way to do your bit.
Make sure you check with your council do what ever you have to do i really dont care and dont want to know but anything to save water has got to better than not doing it
We all know a water tank can cost $100s or $1000s and it can take years to pay off.THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD ENCOURAGE more ways to save water and get rid off all the red tape stuff.
Here in Sydney we have a wa
ter patrol car that will drive around and bust you for using your garden hose $220 so i went and bought some old wine barrels approx 200 litres for $10 each and drilled a 1 inch hole in them with speed bore chucked in $7 kero tap ( Next time i will use a copper tap as the plastic breaks down in the sun ) and connected it to my KARCHER ( gurnie) what ever you call it and HOSE WHAT EVER I WANT.
The karcher is gravity fed and each tank lasts for about 40 minutes
So now I can wash the car the van the boat the fishing rods all on the lawn of course and also the house.
I know a guy on a busy road with an undergrond tank and an onga pump that people hurl abuse at and he just gives them the finger and keeps drinking his beer because he Knows he is set up right while watering his front yard.
Maybe even try 2 tanks...$20.
Then run an overflow pipe back into your stormwater. You will be even suprised in winter (for Sydney siders) at the way your tank fills up with dew.Try and run a sign just to be politically correct
but check with your council because everyones different Cheers Dave ,i might go water my lawn ;D
