yep kingy
- It looks like a U shape with a curved top to hold the slides. It is screwed through the bottom of the U, onto the van. I have it on my bondy but will be getting rid of it and replacing it with sailtrack. Whan I get an annexe made I will be using the sailtrack method.
ask reddo what its like pulling an the slides along the track - its a 2 man job to feed and pull.
If you want a pic then I will see if I can take one soon.
regards earlee

If your van doesn't currenty have track fitted, don't set yourself up for a life of holiday purgatory by fitting marconi track.
Our annexe had marconi clips on it and I found a canvas worker able to replace it with modern sailtrack edging. They also sold us the sailtrack, which went on to the van like a dream thanks to some really excellent instructions from Reddo.

Hi Kingy. I have just demolished a van to use the chassis etc for a teardrop project. I have about a 12' length of marconi rail that you can have for nix, gratis, free if you want it. I will admit that fitting the annexe takes patience and time . can be done on your own but easier with two. One of the small prices you have to pay for sticking with originality. Not a big deal if you are setting up the annexe for an extended stay like a few days in the one place but can be a bit tediuos if you had to fit it after travelling each day. The more you use it, the easier it gets.. just gotta make sure that the screws that hold the track to the roof are down tight. If they work thier way up they can cause dramas when pulling the annexe along the track. I have a spare annexe roof with the rope sewn in the edge as JBJ has discribed for sailtrack. I will be using this on the teardrop . i plan on using that van for touring trips with overnight stays at different sites. Cheers Reddo

Thanks everyone for your ideas and thoughts on the marconi rail,up until Reddo's reply i was sold on the sailtrack idea as being the easiest way to set up but now if i stay with the marconi its just a matter of screwing it on and we're in business without making any alterations to the annexe, plus it'll be original. All i have to do in future now is prepare myself for the mongrel job ahead fitting the annexe .With my short fuse it should be amusing for some .maybe later down the track i'll change to sailtrack Thanks again all Cheers Kingy --- i'll P.M. you Reddo--- P.S.Found a BIG bondy will send pics soon

Hi Kingy As Dennis has said. you could get away with sailtrack because your annexe has a rope sewn in the edge. However... Marconni clips and rails where good enough for grandad and granny. I reckon they are good enough for me ( well at least on my matilda van). It makes you appreciate that first stubby when you have the annexe up, flick open the deck chair and look up at the canvas after 2 hours of cursing and swearing. Sooner or later you learn to take life at a slower pace and just go with the flow. Mind you i found that Marijuana puts you in the right frame of mind for putting anexes up..... always good for a giggle. If we where all fair dinkum about keeping things totally original we would be cooking with metho, sleeping on Kaypock mattresses , searching for block ice and priming the kero tilly lamp every night..... Hmmmmm sounds like down on "Kerosine Alley" at Coledale. Cheers all Reddo

Had an idea, if i get my canvas stitcher bloke to fold that edge with the cord in it over so it's right up against the brass clips and stitch it that'll make up for the gap (60ml)between the clips and edge the cords in. SO that now means i can use the sailtrack and be a happy camper Thanks again everyone, and Reddo thanks for the offer of the rail, but i should be able to use the other now i'll check it out. Cheers kingyonetherighttracknow
