Hey cobber, I don't s'pose you have any idea where the infamous entertainer extraordinaire Mr Will of willlyn fame, can be located these days? He hasn't been onsite since 2013, but I do know he imported a couple of Airstreams in his time with us. He could possible help give some further direction!!!

G'day Ray,
Willyn are still members of the forum but haven't actually 'Logged on' since 30th. November 2013, maybe they drop in as 'Guests' ?
Anyway 😩 back in 2009 the rules were clear enough, and I reckon they will still be the same, it's just that somebody was given the job of re-writing and updating the rules and she, he, they haven't got around to VIS 24 yet, or maybe the new VIB 03 is it ? Wait 'n see 😉
Cobber.

here's a pic of will and lynn's airstream. as you can see, it doesn't have a left hand door and is registered in wa, but maybe wa is easier than other states. will is still a member and is registered as willyn, you can search his threads/posts by seeking willyn under the members tab to read more about his airstream. geoff 'n jude

When we did the TATHRA trip 4/5 yrs back we visited the airstream sales factory at Batemans bay. They sold brand new air streams. They were built in the states with left hand door. Once they got to the b/bay factory in Aus they finished them with Australian compliant electrical and gas. Can't remember whether the right hand door was done in US or here but they are sold new with both left and right hand door fully registered Jenno

Hmm.. This is all starting to sound s bit dodgy now. He has told me AIS 24 (vintage caravan rules) was replaced by VIB3. But apparently that now relates to brakes? He has now begun to quote without reference..... This is the reply I got: (I'm sorry it has taken me some time to reply to this post) RTA man said: Dear Sir Apologies for the typing error in my reply stating “Vehicle Inspectors Bulletin 6 elaborates on the braking requirement exception for trailers……” This was meant to be “Vehicle Inspectors Bulletin 3 elaborates on the braking requirement exception for trailers……” VIB 3 only relates to braking requirements & is titled: “Braking Requirements for Trailers up to 4.5 tonnes ATM” Unfortunately, copies of VIB 3 are only available to Authorised Inspection Stations. To clear up a few misunderstandings you have from my reply, AIS 24 no longer applies and also, as stated in my reply, the 2nd & 3rd paragraphs of my reply, including the dot points, are extracts from the Rules for Authorised Inspection Stations, not from VIB 3. Trailers not complying with these rules will not pass inspection. Please call Technical Enquiries on 1300 137 302 should you have any further enquiries. Thanks & regards Neil Williams Technical Enquiry Officer Accreditation | Compliance & Regulatory Services So i will send him message back and ask why AIS 24 was replaced with an article about braking requirments. I will also ask where his quoting came from. I am beginning to get lost as it sounds like the RMS is a MESS. Thankyou Cobber for the link to that website. Thats AWESOME!! I am thinking I will just eventually import one regardless of what he says, as my local blueslip guy has said he would pass it. Brenton

I did give an airstream mob a ring (Im sure it was the ones at Batemans Bay) They told me they have them made with a door on the righthad side, but it isnt very economical for them to bring them in anymore, and it sounded as though they were scaling down.

Thanks for your input Geoff and Jude.
Isn't the first window on the LHS part of the door. It looks like the shape of a door. (thats how it looks to me - but I know next to nothing about airstreams??)

Hi bubbacluby, I have just joined the site and am trying to get my 1978 Eriba Triton blueslipped, after brining it in from the UK, on my return after working in the NHS there for 9 years. I was wondering how things had gone for you and your Puck and if there was any further guidance you could offer. Many thanks, Alice
