Can Anybody help me identify the wheels on the 1936 van? The tyres fitted are 5.25 x 16...it is a three stud wheel with 31/2” between studs and 2” between stud and centre of hub. Because it is only three studs I am thinking English ...Austin ..Morris something like that? The brake drum and wheel bearings are a bit different too. Both inner & outer are roller bearings, not held in a cage. The photo below shows (right to left) the outer bearing inner race (threaded on the inside, screws onto the stub axle)...locating washer and the nut that holds it all on. Has anybody seen this arrangement before Would appreciate it if you can I.D. the bearings as those on the off side are shot (need replacing) Thanks fellas, Cobber.

Thanks for your suggestions Humpty2 (can’t find numbers nowhere mate)..Col. Could the Hillman at this site be the one you fellas have in mind? www.motorbase.com/vehicle/by-id/1134172115/ Hard to tell from this photo but it could be close eh? Yesterday I took “Driftwood” and the FJ to a car show at Camden. I also took the wheel of ol’ 36 to see if any of the car buffs could identify it. People there said for certain sure it was off a Ford Anglia ... Morris Cowley ...Vauxhall ... Peugeot...Citroen...Reno. In fact a few people voted for Peugeot. It was mentioned that the reason some older caravans were not fitted with a spare wheel was because the van was built using the same wheels as the tow car, hence the car’s spare served the purpose. Cobber, Definitely recommend Automotive Surplus. Kaybee notes them as Auto Surplus.Lucky vegemite having them so close. They are located in Mitcham Victoria and I have had much dealing with them over the years.Extremely helpful and very prompt in despatching purchases. Best of luck anyway and I'll see you at Coledale. don ;D

Thanks for finding that Col, sure looks like the same wheel eh? I have sent the seller a message, waiting for a reply.
Thanks for your endorsement of Automotive surplus Don, it's good to hear they work long distance too.
Coledale sounds like it should go for a week at least...just so we can get to say "G'day" to everybody. Thirty one vans booked in last I heard.
Cobber.

Hi Cob The frogs get my vote. Pug, citrus or reno. 3 holes where common on there jallopys. I grew up with a lot of that weird stuff getting dragged home by my oldman. He avoided the mainstream Holden, ford, dodge etc and bought second hand eurocars that no one else would be seen dead in. Bloody embarassing pullin' up in front of school in a Skoda. To avoid detection by my school buddys i usta pull my leather skoolbag over my head and run flat out blindly up the play ground until i ran into something solid like the flag pole or playground equipment. Sorta drew the attention away from the contraption that i had just emerged from out the front. I use to fien injury.... ( takes more than a head on with a flagpole to keep a good Reddo down) By that stage dad would have clutch started the pile of sh#t and be off down the road trailing smoke and oil. I use to have to sit and eat my lunch with the "New Australians". cause the other kids thought we where Itieys or something. learnt to fight early in life....... all a result of dads poor judgement in purchasing automobiles. I cant begin to tell ya how happy i was when he came home one day in a dodge sloper .... now that was a real car. First time in ten years i went to school and eat my lunch without the brown paper bag over my head. Rim is. Early 30's European mate. Reddoldholdensroolok.

Hey Will/Reddo!! I hope you blokes don’t think I’m trying to hijack this thread but I just wanted to let Col & humpty know that they are bloody geniuses The fella selling that ‘39 Hillman on eBay got back to me with the measurements between each stud and from stud to hub centre. He must be a young bloke, he reckons 90mm and 50mm respectively which is much the same as 3 1/2” and 2” eh? I think the series started in 1936...lots of info @ www.sa.hillman.org.au/Home.htm While searching around I read somewhere that on certain models different wheels were fitted on export cars (from England). Thanks for your help humpty and Col ;D Nice to know your still there Reddo & Will thanks for putting a smile on our faces. Cobber.
