I had time last week to do some research in the State Library of NSW and found there is quite a lot of vintage caravan stuff in their collection. Better still, the catalogue of material accessioned since 1980 is now on-line at www.sl.nsw.gov.au/, so I could search for "caravan" and ask for entries to be listed by date. Some titles I requested from the stack were: "Modern Caravan Construction" by JW Campbell - an English book from 1950, strangely without any pictures of vans. The only illustrations were diagrams of joints and other details "the Caravan Manual" - also English and published in 1953. Lots of great ads and pictures, including explanations on how to fit a coal-burning cosy stove into your van. "Caravan Almanac: the Handbook of Hints for all who Caravan" - Keith Winser 1968. Typical Keith Winser - lots of photos and information in very tiny print. I'll go back and have another look at this one. No doubt the other state libraries are similar. Has anyone checked out what's available? And if they are on-line? cheers Belinda
