Lately I've read a couple of posts where people talk about throwing out the old cushions.
Yes, they were heavy and smelly and split and useless, but before people send cushions to the tip could you PLEASE salvage the metal buttons.
If you look closely at the interior shots of our van ("Belinda and Robert's pride and joy") you can see that two of the smaller cushions are new. All the others have been cleaned up and re-buttoned.
The upholsterer did a great match with colours and piping, but the metal buttons are unobtainable. We scavenged as many as we could, cleaned them up and painted the really bad ones with Airfix paint. He was still about ten short and had to create some by covering plastic buttons with yellow vinyl - not bad, but not original either.
If you are getting new cusions made, salvaging the old buttons and re-using them will help get a more original look.
If you don't need any buttons, please pass them on to other needy van owners.
cheers
Belinda

You're right Belinda,
I threw mine out before I was aware of this group. I wish I still had then now I would be more inclined to clean them up.
I spent $1000 on new ones that don't look as good, float all over the caravan when towing, and are uncomfortable as well. I wish I still had my old ones, I would get them professionally cleaned and I think they would be better.
They certainly looked funky, Blue with Canary Yellow piping and buttons.

Hi Belinda I have taken your advice and removed the buttons from my old cushions. They were just to dirty etc to use so have replaced them. Cheers Kathryn
