Hi all. New to the forum. No idea how to re-size piccies on my iPad so hopefully the link below will work for you. Picked up a 60's ( I believe ) Coronet 5 berth van last weekend at a local garage sale. Rolled it home on 30 plus year old tyres but she made it O.K with no dramas at all. The van is very original and was crammed full of eveything the family used to travel with in the 70's including BBQ, pots and pans, cutlery, prop stands, lanterns, tarps and even a skateboard! I would be curious if anyone on this forum knows what year and/or model this is. I know Coronet still make vans in Bayswater in Melbourne but they don't seem to have much history on these old vans. One of the sales guys there thought it was '59 to '63 but I feel it looks much later..anyhoo, I'm sure someone wiser here will put me straight Cheers! picasaweb.google.com/114808460487928360773/July302015?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCObZo5eAiaX7UQ&feat=directlink

Gday C.St.Really nice van & great score.Best thing to do first off is to check our Down History Lane Index section where you`ll be able to see similar vans. Ideally a number welded on the tow bar (the A frame) will give a better/closer indication of year model which you could gauge against other vans noted there. Also it was very common for caravan builders to scribble their name/date under/behind a drawer or door.Perhaps even under the table or bed.Happy hunting.

Hi Coronet, Your van is a Coronet Prince,17x8,they came as a single axle or tandem. Does yours have one or 2 bunks across the back? Both were available I can't tell if it's silver or white aluminium,if white,it's about 1968 or 69,if silver, earlier than that, possibly 1967. Looks like it's in good nick for age,are you going to keep it original? Cheers hughdeani

The van is silver aluminium. It has a double (for midgets anyway) bed at the front (towing end) and a single at the back near the door. My intention is to keep it as original as possible. It came with additional curtain material which I can use to replace the front curtains as they have perished. The rest just need a wash. I notice that the spare wheel is grey painted like old Holdens from back in tne day so I intend painting the other two that colour. Will also add tall profile whitewalls in keeping. I know vans probably never had whitewalls but my '62 Valiant S series does

Hi. Coronet, I've just managed to see the photos of your van( ( my iPad is playing up) What a stunner! And a rarity! So glad to hear you're going to keep her original. The double bed is the standard caravan size for its day,6x4, I see there is even the trademark Coronet level above the frig. Cheers hughdeani

A few more piccies to share. So we have established it is a 17ft Coronet Prince and I am assuming from what is marked on the inside of the crossbar that she is a 1969 model. Have found all sorts of goodies inside - pics via the attached link. This weekend's job was painting the wheels and fitting new 15" whitewalls. Next up sanding back the drawbar and legs for a fresh coat of paint. Any suggestions here on colour choice and rattle can vs brush on? Any suggestions on paint type also welcomed Am also chasing a few bits...the white reflectors on the front are buggered, the decals almost gone, L/H side spat/wheel well cover is missing and there is only one hubcap and it is too far gone to re-use. I wonder kf the wheels are Ford?? Any help on chasing down these bits would be much appreciated. I am located in Melbourne. Cheers! picasaweb.google.com/114808460487928360773/August22015
