Thanks for the photo's Mark. Exactly what i meant for the virtual tour.
However, having now seen one of the collection...
I may just have to kill you.
It's no wonder you harrased the owners to get it.

I live about 100km from Bris as the crow flies and can't get broadband, and it's times like this I feel like kicking Mr telstra for not providing such basic services. Had to wait for half an hour to download your pics, Mark, but at least it was worth the wait. There are signs of commonality between this beautiful van and the Dons - just gone upmarket a bit more. That van is a true collector's item and great snapshot of early vanning in style. Congrats on your perseverance at getting this amazing van into your collection. Look after it, or else you will have the whole forum over there ready to kick you in the bum!! ;D ;D Ray

Mark, I am speechless. (Okay not really but close - nothing shuts me up totally ;D). A few comments: Firstly, was the towcar a Roller or a Bentley? - Personally I prefer a Bentley. The FC - what is that contracption on top of the motor? That is one odd looking carburettor ;D The van: awesome! Love the "Ensuite" - I think a ceramic Gazzunder like I have in my Franklin would be more appropriate than the porta potti. I observation, o hope the tap-pump don't leak - it is above the power point. The match box holders are very innovative, haven't seen anything like that for some years - although from the marks on the wall someone has been stricking matches there. Nice original extinguisher, I have one similar that I finally found last weekend and will be installing in the van.
Finally - please bring it to the mount, I want to see it in the flesh and can't see my butt getting to WA for some time.
Cheers, Gristy

thanks everybody for your comments on the 'Mildura BBB' ......it certainly is a treasure, and yes, it'll be well looked after . Due to its size, it was a costly caravan to transport to WA, but judging by the positive feedback, I'm glad we did Its first showing will be at the Brookton Old Time Motor Show in WA on Saturday March 29.....it'll be towed by our 64 Compact until we can find/afford a Roller ;D ;D Gristy ......yes, the tow car is in fact a Rolls Bentley, a 1955 model I was told .....good pick up Re Daggsey FC ........I'll let him reveal all in due course ;D Mark

Well congratulations Mark, You certainly got a beautiful van to add to your collection. While this van was well fitted out , it still shows the simplicity (and therefore fun) that caravaning use to be in those 'vintage years'. Yep, Perth is definitely on my travel agenda now. Thanks for your continuing support and dedication to this site. Regards Graem

Hey Mark,
that thing is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont know if you have seen it but there is an enormous bondy with rounded ends and leadlight windows in the caravan park at Hopetoun, down near Esperance. I think it might have a tandem axle under it. It was HUGE!!!!!!!!!
Saw it there in 2002 and it had been there for ever, I assume it is still there.
cheers, Leigh.

What a fantastic thread and even better photos!!! It is great to see such history though i would say the business was a VERY good one as the photos show some very exspensive cars for the time and of course the caravans would not have been cheap either. Congratulations to al involved as it is a credit to you all. Cheers Brett

Dear Mark, Well for starters you've got it upside down..... then that bolt goes into the tongue of your goose neck.... whoops sorry . That leaves the ball pointing up-wards unto which you put the caravan socket. Instead of chains, as shown in the photo below, it looks as though you have wire rope which is tensioned by that strange ratchet wheel. The other bits and pieces attach to the caravan 'A' frame to hook the wire onto. I can't tell you if it will work and I think you may have too many bits. I reckon yours is different but works on the same principal...... best I can do anyway It's English you know. Cobber

Mark, i'm not so sure about completeness...
The carlight is similar to a more modern version we had in the 80's when i was vanning with my parents. It appears to me that the end of the wire ratchets have been mounted in something and rubbing, hence the smooth rusty appearance. Theres usually brackets that mount on the A frame to provide the anchor point for the stabiliser system on the van. i reckon thats what the small brackets with "sockets" on angles are for, the long bracket with the u at either end would be the "rest" for the ratchet handle?
And that van behind an ANGLIA, are they kidding?
I have it assembled in my head, but there's plenty of room in there for it to be all backwards!
