Hi shesgotthelook. Looks like a good find, I recently went to a good drive through rural SA and found lots of old vans but none like my 66 Viscount. Is you intention to sell off some parts of your purchase? Regards, Bob.

Derk, I wish I could be happy with just one, I envy people who are content with one. I'm not quite a hoarder, but I'd come close on psych evaluation I believe. Bob, there might not be much of value left once I've stripped it. I intend to salvage what floor tiles I can, all the slot head screws, the fridge (if it works), window & cabinet hardware & maybe even the blue vinyl. Son will probably silicone & tek screw it back together & set up down at his camping spot. But sing out if there is something in particular you are after. Where do you live? Just found this on Gumtree that might be handy for parts www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/south-tamworth/caravan/vintage-caravan/1060388645

My 66 Viscount Ambassador has had the rear window replaced with one piece of glass (as has the one in the Gumtree link you provided). I had always though an opening rear window would be good, if anything just to allow more ventilation. I really haven't looked for one closer to home, so I suppose I could start looking. Regards, Bob.

Looks like a decent score, well done SGTL! Its amazing how many common items are used from one make to another. So many little things i can spot that are the same in this, as in Molly.

Pulled the fridge out on the weekend to discover this! Believe it was something to do with the gas as all gas had been disconnected from fridge. put the fridge on concrete out in the open & plugged in...... All good, works great My cleaning cloth stuck to the freezer. After 1 hr, not overly hot at the back & nice & cold inside.

Got to love that good ol Sweedish technology. I'm gathering it's an Electro.lux. I've got one of these and it's still running well. Close call with the gas fire Lesson learned: never leave a gas fridge unmonitored because all it takes is a bug to fall into the pilot flame and we have fire!

G'day SGTL, After seeing the photos of the fridge cavity, I've decided we need another button to press in the forum windows, apart from 'Like'. It should read: 'Horrified' Just a reminder of what can happen! Don Ricardo

I recon if I ever fitted a gas fridge into an old van I would line the whole cabinet in ally or stainless to avoid exactly what you have shown can happen.

Maybe the NSW idea of smoke detectors in vans is not such a bad idea after all. WOW... Makes you think how many other vans have a similar problem that no one has ever noticed. Might be a good idea for us to check our fridges and gas lines hay...
