Hi all just wondering if my franklin would have ever had spats? I can see above both tyres 'dirt outlines' and 'screw holes' in an arc over the wheels but when I got her there were no spats. If she did have then before how/where and can they be replaced or should I have them painted on when the outside is redone? I have included one photo where I think I can see the outline - happy 1st day if daylight savings :-)

Hi and welcome. Yes your Franklin originally had spats fitted. They were missing on my van as well so I ended up making some from marine plywood. They are no longer available to purchase, the original ones were fibregalss and too expensive to have remade. A very helpfull forum member loaned me his to copy which is something I am very thankful for. How about a few more photos of your van. Koala

Hi Carmel. As Koala says. Now if you look through the Down History Lane section under Franklin you`ll see different styles that were used.Yours runs parralel to the profile of your cladding/Koalas has an upsweep.Pick a decent material to use - not chipboard or mdf - marine ply if you can afford although plenty of off cuts can be sourced cheap/free.Make sure whatever timber you end up using is completely sealed around the edges,a prime place for water to seep into. You could also use ali sheet painted to the vans colours with a rubber seal glued around the outer edge. gordon
