Yesterday was the beginning of "Corroboree Sydney"-- an 11 day festival of indigenous art and culture in various venues around Sydney. As part of the festival a film called "The Darkside"will make it's Sydney premiere at the Corroboree Cinema on pier 2/3 Walsh Bay. It is a collection of Ghost Stories by Warwick Thornton who directed "Samson and Delilah".. both films were produced by Kath Shelper of "Scarlett Pictures"I was approached by Scarlett Pictures to provide a vintage caravan that could be placed in the foyer at pier 2/3 so people could be invited to sit inside the van and have their own ghost stories recorded. The "Swamp van" was judged to be perfect for this job, so there she sits for 11 days in the historic Walsh Bay Wharfs surrounded by great hunks of wooden beams. They call her a "Story Booth".... I don't think the name will stick. As part of our remuneration ...we were invited to the "Opening Night Party" at the "Corroboree Club", again in Pier 2/3, these piers are huge, really great that they have been saved and made useful. The main event featuring Archie Roach was preceded by drinks & nibbles. And an emotional ceremony in a great setting to launch the "Corroboree Firelight Ceremony"That's Archie Roach on the right....... trust me We will be going to a few other events during the week so maybe I'll post a couple more photos of this great Sydney Event. Cobber.

Hi Cobber, Congratulations on another great outing for one of your vans, and the opportunity contribute to a worthwhile event and promote vintage vanning on the the side. Good to see the Swamp Van attracting a bit of the limelight usually reserved for Driftwood! Is Driftwood showing signs of jealousy, or is she happy for the love to be shared around? Corroboree Sydney looks like a great event to be part of. We'll look forward to seeing more photos as the festival proceeds. Don Ricardo

Thanks Don R, Driftwoods cool, I think she appreciates the rest besides..... horses for courses The Swamp Van is just the right size for this project. The "Corroboree Sydney festival" got us back into Sydney town yesterday..... Indigenous arts and crafts market at Pier 2/3 ..... non-indigenous arts and crafts at "The Rocks" ...... High tea and guided tour of the "Yiribana Gallery" at the Art Gallery of Sydney ....Sydney Antique Centre .....back to the "Corroboree Club" at pier 2/3 for dinner and listen to a very versatile musician Dave Dow .... then upstairs to the "Corroboree Cinema" to see the film "The Darkside" They tell me the "Story Booth" was pretty popular during the day with about 12 "ghost stories" being recorded. And Ch. 9 "Today Show" visited the pier today and recorded part of the weather report in and around "The Swamp Van". Anyway........... at the indigenous markets I spotted a vintage caravan , looks like a Millard to me, being used as a mobile studio by the Koori radio station 93.7 fm Cobber.

Hi Cobber and Mrs Cobber Nice to see you're equal opportunity parents - and that Swampy is getting an outing, over her more famous sister, Driftwood. Looks like it was a nice event - all a bit flash really! Now it's time to get Ol' 36 in a film - though, I guess, it might be silent... Cheers Seeshell

Jude, I reckon you should take Geoff in to visit the "Story Booth" so he can tell them one of his sofistakated Ghost Stories .... it could be the start of a new career for him, getting paid for what he does naturally . And seeshell.... old Driftwood is a bit hard to keep in the shadows.. just look HERE ( in the latest Australia Post Stamp Bulletin) Cobber.

We recovered " The Swamp Van" from pier 2/3 Walsh Bay today after an interesting week for us ( and the Swamp Van ) we'll have to get her checked out by The Ghostbusters to make sure there's no spirits lurking in there. They tell me she was very popular and was host to many interesting stories from The Other Side. I see Margret & David from "At the Movies" gave "The Dark Side" a big wrap and four stars from each of them A nice photo of the Swamp Van with a relaxed Warwick Thornton enjoying a cuppa. Cobber.
