From Marg ........ "It was built by my Grandfather in the late 1940s. We think around 1947. It is in good condition as it was in his garage, unused, for many years. We’ve had many fabulous holidays in it since my husband and I got it back on the road about 8 years ago. And it has brought back many happy childhood memories of caravanning in it with my grandparents." "Via your website I’ve already gleaned info about possible sources my Grandfather (deceased) used for his plans. I saw your “Australian Motoring Manual Plans for Caravans” collection and I reckon they would have to have come from one of those." "The van is about 15 ft or 4.6 m long, not including the draw bar (which is very short), about 6ft 6in or 2 m wide, and 8 ft or 2.5 m high (the wheels are 16 inch diameter, from a 1940’s Chev we think)." From Mark: Kevin & Marg are trying to find the plans for their van if anyone can help from their old magazines.

What an amazing old van. Would love to see some inside photos if you can, and how amazing that you are still holidaying it after all these years.

Shades of the lantern-roof van i almost bought in Melbourne. Sadly it was not is as good condition as your. There was a lantern roof van around in the late 40's early fifties called the Flynn, from which this design may have come. Lovely van - I simply love that lantern roof Cheers Ray
