Ok, Ok , Ok
I promised that I would explain why “Just Croozn” went on the market.. Pull up a stump ( or a chair if a stump aint comfy enough) pour yourself a drink …or better still get someone else to pour it if you have a habit of spilling things.
The story goes like this … page one …. Once Upon a time ……Ooooooppps wrong book.
Ahem…. Try again … aaah here it is.
There I was minding my own business at the NRMA Motorfest. Quietly readin’ the latest unique cars mag enjoying the vintage van article with pictures and script about our very own Mark Poo Bah Taylor .
Suddenly the bright sunlight was bloked by a block … ooops again should read blocked by a bloke ..who questions me as to whether my big bruver has told me about an old van that is sleeping in a shed up amongst the Hunter Valley Vineyards.
On my ears detecting this fresh intelligence as to another vintage treasure I dropped the magazine and gave my new found friend my undivided ( I was never any good at maths) attention.
I asked him to speak slowly and repeat what he had told me while I jotted down the vital statistics … name address , phone number. Might sound a bit weird getting this info from a bloke but when we are talking vintage vans sexuality is overlook…. Hell he could have been gay and I would have still listened.
A quick call on thursday nightand the shakey voice agrees to let me have a look and touch next week when i get home from Victoria.
Monday we get to cuddle the van and promise i will be back with the $$cabbage$$ ... might even take some money with me.
Tuesday morning and the van is dragged home. OH FOR CHRIST SAKE REDDO SHOW US THE PHOTOS…… OK.
masked up and cutting in. The old bloke had painted it with flat white acrylic …. YYYYUUUUUKKKK. Every time ya touched it ya got chalk on ya fingers and it was bloody glarey.
The bro doin the busniss with the pinstriping
The “Fairway” sign is made of red perspex the little canvas awniings provide plenty of shade.
The van came with smaller canvas covers that slip over the windows and are secured at the top by little turnbuckles.
left hand side . this side window hasn’t got a canvas blind cause there is a full canvas awing to provide shade here. Has 12volt outside light. Colours are … Dulux “birdseed” and dulux – “eau – de-nil” very close to original.
Back view . I got the bro to bung on a scroll between the windows and one below the “towel rail” Tail lights are different to anything I have seen before???
Inside is like brand new. Bought 195?. One trip to south oz then back up through the centre across to QLD and home then … up on blocks until last week.
lookin to the front inside. Crushed velvet cushion covers. Hope someone can tell me where “Fairways “ where built.
Lookin to the back inside
Sink and benchtop etc. The ice chest is in perfect condition and should hold about 6 more stubbies than just Croozn . That was the whole reason for buying it.
And finally the christening…..
.
Reddo – from the far side .
