Hello, I have been keeping an eye on this site for several months and now that I finally have some photos of my Vanny on my computer I thought I had better join up and show you my little treasure. Please let me know what you think of her and if anyone knows what type of van she is I would really like to know. Thank you Alison

Hi Alison and welcome to the VC site. My guess is that you have an early Viscount, going by the front curve on top. Yet the rear isn't typically Viscount. Hopefully someone else can clarify it for you. Tell me, are there 2 tables in the van?? I am a bit confused!!! Then that's not hard to do!! What is that on your sink? ?? A bit of work still needed in parts, but it is a beauty. Cheers Ray

Hello Mark and Ray Thanks for the quick response. I bought her without rego so when I had her registered they put her down as handmade. Vanny as I like to caller her had not been registered for over 15 years at least when I bought her. I saw a verry similar caravan if not identical on EBay and it was called a Huntsman. I have tried to search for any information on huntsman caravans and cant find anything. Have you ever heard of a Huntsman Van? Yes, there are two tables, a table for two/single bed at the front and a table for four/double bed at the back. The skull cane with the van, for what reason I am not sure. Alison

Hello again, I just saw that little Stateliner on EBay. With that going, or not going, for $3000 and without disclosing what I bought Vanny for can you please give me a rough guess at what you think I shoud have paid for her. Are aluminium outer/ply inner rare in older vans as I have not come accross very many, most seem to be all ply unless I am just not looking hard enough. Gotta go for today, i'll check in tomorrow. Thanks again Alison

Nice van Alison shame about the car. It should be behind an XP Falcon or EH Holden. Commodores tow poptop vans.

Oi Ron. i'm working on the car, ease up eh!! :-) Conny as I like to call her is my dream car, sad huh, oh well, she's all mine and the only thing that doesn't work is the odometer. Even the air con and heating are still A1. Thanks for your thoughts though I got a good chuckle as I was half expecting a comment re my Connie. Alison

Sorry Alison couldn't resist, it does have some chrome on the front bumper so that sorta makes it a vintage Commodore.

Hi Alison. Don't let them get you - - - there are also several rabid Holden owners around here (I'm not one of them though!!) Nobody seems game to talk about prices yet. Probably because they are so unpredictable. I think that the Stateliner is overpriced (unless the interior is mickey mouse - which we don't know). Yours, if I were buying it, I would say should be around $1500-2000. Here I am sticking my neck out again Re bondwood vs Alum - Generally you will find that bondwood vans will predate aluminium ones. As Mark says, yours is probably early sixties. Have yet to see a pre60's aluminium van. You will also notice that pre60's vans generally have timber or ply doors inside, rather than laminated with only benchtops having the old laminex on them. Hope that helps. Cheers Ray
