G'day S&J, No reason why it couldn't be. I was interested to see the advertisement posted by griffin earlier, and noted it was from the 1962-63 Camping Guide. It would be nice to know when that was actually published, whether at the start of '62 or partway between '62 and '63. Either way, it shows the President model was available earlier than the first advert I found in late '63. I also wonder whether the 13' 6" model would have the room for a U-shaped lounge anyway. Maybe that was something that was only available in the 15-footer or larger (it would be a bit of a squeeze getting one into a 15ft van as well, I reckon). I did notice the timber grain laminex on the table. That's not a pattern I can recall seeing on other vans from this era, so that's another option for anyone searching for laminex. Nice surprise with the Holden. I think it's a great reward for the amount of searching and finding of old vans that you've done over the last year or so. Good for you! cheers, Al.

Hi Franklin
I can't help with an exact publication date, of the half dozen or so NRMA guides I've seen they all appear to be a mid year publication, I never checked for a specific date. The earliest I've seen being 1935-6, and the four pre-war I've seen have precious little about caravans or caravan parks in them.

Confusion there S and J I was referring that the 17 foot with shower must be a 61 model....sorry about that....the pres would definitely be later than that........ 62/3/4/5/ or 66 would be right I would reckon. regards PS 6cyl HKTG manual monaros came with a 4spd opel but a very rare option indeed to find one in a premier!!

I suggest ya don't beat up on the gearbox, ....the little opal was designed for the 4 cylinder Torana, and are weak when coupled to the 186 ..........blew mine to bits Can't wait to see the combo on the road! cheers Mark

Well done, car and van in good hands. I have a customer/mate who has had his picardily red hk 186s opal monaro since new and has had no problems. People forget the first xu1's had the 186 and opals and ran them in the rally championship and Bathurst. The secret is to not do what yours truely and many others did and hammer the clutch. You have a car that was rare even when new and now days even more so. Keep it as original as you can, it`s called superannuation. John.

Hey S&J These look great together now! They're gunna look Super Schmick when the van gets a repaint. Don't the gold trims on the van look fab with the car! Love those board racks as well! Steve, you're just gunna have to get a longboard (if you haven't got one already). I can just see it... couple of fox tails hanging off the side mirrors, perhaps a nodding gyrating minature hula girl in the back window, Steve in his boardies with zinc cream on his nose, Julie in big sunnies, miniskirt & pale pink lipstick, speakers blaring out Little Patti singing Youre my Blond Headed Stompie Whompie Real Gone Surfer Boy... Yes I love it!

G'day S&J, I wonder if your van is one of the "four new fiberglass and aluminium" models that were exhibited in the Sydney Caravan Show in late 1961? The advert says "from 14ft...", but quite often advertising was rounded up to the nearest foot. cheers, Al.

Prospect County Council was the electricity authority which served the western suburbs of Sydney. It no longer exists since the privatisation of the electricity supply in NSW. From memory Prospect County Council was based in Parramatta. At the time the other big supply authority in Sydney was the Sydney County Council. In NSW there were a number of regional electricity supply authorities, all called County Councils.
Cheers, Ian.
