I really don't think I have anything more to offer the VV movement in the rebuilding of the Pumpkin. I started this thread because there appeared to be a lack of info on these later model aluminium vans. When I started I didn't even realise what I had was a composite panel construction or what significance it had to the history of caravanning in Australia.

In particular a statement I read that the author had never seen the body of an aluminium van successfully removed from the chassis. That was like a red rag to a bull.

I strongly suggest you keep looking for your new van and when you find it, post it here on this forum. I'll still be here, along with a heap of other more talented people and we will help with any issue you may have.

I really would like to see one of Franklin's 1967 to 69 vans faithfully restored as a lasting testament to the foresight of an Australian icon.

Will you be the one to make it happen?

No, there won't be any more photos on this thread for reasons I've already written.

Your new Franklin actually isn't the "Mini" model. Looks to be into the seventies. However, you'll find only small details are different between our two models.
Same sandwich construction and almost identical layout and methods of cupboard construction.

If you decide to go the full resto with walls off etc then what I have detailed in this thread will apply to your job as well.

If any questions pop up during your journey, don't hesitate to call out out.
