G’day all
Here are two scans of an article in today’s Herald Sun (Melb 31-12-2005) about Arthur Pullin, his wife Pat and their caravans.
(Two scans with an overlap to get the whole article as you’d soon figure out)
Arthur and his wife Pat .. Australia’s oldest caravanners – How’s that for a claim to fame eh..
They have been caravanning since before I was born, and I’m older than even Reddo and Ray!
It’s a great read and a wonderful piece about caravanning history.
If anyone would like a hard copy of the paper (The real thing so to speak) I bought a couple of spares.
Let me know and I’ll post it to you.
Mark has said he will be away for the New Year weekend so I’ll put a copy aside until next week on the assumption he would like one.
If you would like the whole paper there’s some good stuff about the “Year that Was” in 2005 in it, being the last issue of the paper for the year.
Our local newsagent has told me he will hold any unsold papers until about next Wednesday 4th Jan if there is a demand for “real live copies”.
Just let me know if you would like one.
Some interesting facts from the article..
Pat, Arthur’s wife, is four days off her 100th Birthday.
Arthur paid 20 quid for Joker 1 back in 1940.
He built Joker 2 in 1957 and they travelled with it for 42 years.
Joker 3 came along in more recent times as you would all remember.. There’s a thread about it somewhere on the website.
I’d like to think I’ll still be playing golf at 90, as Pat was.
